New Pattern Reasoning Questions for Bank Exams 2018

Directions (Q. 1-5) : Study the given information carefully and answer the given questions :

Twelve friends A, B, C, D, E, F, P, 0, R, S, T and U live in 12 fiats of a six floors building. Each floor contains two flats numbered 1 and 2 from left to right in the same order. The ground floor of the building considered the first floor and the floor immediately above the ground floor is considered the second floor and so on. All the flats are identical in all manners so that flat-1 of floor-2 is immediately above flail of floor-1 and flat-2 of floor 2 is immediately above flat-2 of floor-1. Only one person lives in each flat.

B lives on a floor immediately above the floor on which U lives but does not live on the dd number floor. F's floor number is the square of the F's flat number. A's flat number and floor number are same. There are three floors between A's floor and C's floor, they live in different numbered flats. B lives neither on he top floor nor on the floor on which F lives. P lives two floors below D who lives on an yen numbered floor. U lives on one of the floors above the floor on which E lives and hey live in same numbered flats. S and 0 live n the same floor. R lives on one of the floors above the floor on which B lives and they live n different numbered flats. T and Q live on different numbered lats.
      1. Who lives in flat-1 of floor-3 ?
      2. What is the flat and floor number of P ?
        1. flat-1, floor-2
        2. flat-2, floor-1
        3. flat-1, floor-1
        4. flat-1, floor-3
        5. flat-2, floor-6
      3. How many people live above U's floor ?
        1. Five
        2. Four
        3. Seven
        4. Six
        5. Nine
      4. Four of the following five are alike in a certain way hence form a group. And the one which does not belong to that group.
        1. C
      5. Which of the following statements is definitely false ?
        1. E lives on floor 1
        2. R lives on the topmost floor
        3. T and A live on the same floor
        4. Q lives immediately above D
        5. P lives immediately above F.
      Solution :

It is given that A's flat number and floor are same and there are only three floors between A's floor and C's floor and they live in different numbered fiats. Hence A lives in flat 1 of floor 1 or on fiat 2 of floor 2 and C lives on flat 2 o floor 6 or flat 1 of floor 7 respectively. F's Moo number is square of F's flat number. Hence F lives in either flat 1 of floor 1 or flat 2 of floor 4.
But it is also given that B lives immediately above U but does not live on odd numbered floor and he
lives neither on the top floor nor lives with F. Hence  B live either on the fourth floor or on the second floor. But U lives on one of the floors above E. Hence B does not lives on fourth floor, which is not possible in case (i) and case (ii). Hence these two cases are eliminated. In case (iii), B lives n the fourth floor and U lives on the third floor.

R lives on one of the floors above B. Hence R lives on the top most floor in flat 2. R and B lives in different numbered flats. Hence B lives in flat 1 of floor 4. It can be shown as follows.

P lives two floors below D who lives on even numbered floor. Hence D lives in flat 2 of floor 4 and P lives in flat 1 of floor 2. As E lives below U. E lives on flat 2 of floor 1. E and U live in same numbered flats. Hence U lives in flat 2 of floor 3. S and Q live on the same floor and T and Q live on different numbered flats. Hence the final arrangement is as follows.
      1. T lives in flat 1 of floor 3. Choice (5)
      2. P lives in flat 1 of floor 2. Choice (1)
      3. Six people live above U's floor. Choice (4)
      4. Except E all other persons live in flats numbered 1. Choice (2)
      5. T and A live on same floor is false. Choice (3)
