Hindu Editorial Topic 1 :  "Leave them alone: on the Sentinelese"
  • Sentinel - a soldier who stands at the entrance to a place and guards it
  • Tragic - causing or involving great sadness, because someone suffers or dies
  • Misguided - a misguided idea or action is based on judgments or opinions that are wrong
  • Inhabitant - a person or animal that lives in a particular place
  • Convict - to prove in a court of law that someone is guilty of a crime
  • Urge - to advise someone very strongly about what action or attitude they should take
  • Integrate - combining things, people, or ideas of different types in one effective unit, group, or system
  • Extinction - the situation when an animal, plant, or language no longer exists
  • Tragedy - a very sad event that causes people to suffer or die
  • Foolhardy - ignoring obvious dangers in a stupid way

  • Circumstance - conditions that make a bad action or mistake seem less serious, sometimes even making it seem reasonable
  • Meticulous - very thorough and with careful attention to detail
  • Precaution - something done to protect people or things against possible harm or trouble
  • Ensure - to make certain that something happens or is done
  • Isolation - the state of being separated from other people, or a situation in which you do not have the support of other people
  • Immunity - the protection that someone’s body gives them against a particular disease
  • Resistance - the ability not to be affected or harmed by something, especially a disease or a drug

  • Perhaps - used to show that something is possible or that you are not certain about something
  • Reclusive - living alone and avoiding other people
  • Fiercely - ​in a frightening, violent, or powerful way
  • Intruder - someone who enters a place where they are not allowed to go, especially to commit a crime
  • Spear - a long weapon like a stick with one sharp end
  • Tsunami - a very large wave or series of waves caused when something such as an earthquake moves a large quantity of water in the sea

  • Remote - far away from other cities, towns, or people
  • Emerging - just beginning to exist or be noticed
  • Rid - to take action that stops something annoying, unpleasant, or not wanted from affecting you
