  • Ceasefire - an agreement to stop fighting for a period of time, especially in order to discuss permanent peace
  • Cessation -  an end to something
  • Retaliate - to do something harmful or unpleasant to someone because they have done something harmful or unpleasant to you
  • Essential - completely necessary
  • Respite - a short period of rest from having to deal with a difficult or unpleasant situation
  • Valley - a low area of land between mountains or hills, usually with a river flowing through it
  • Escalate - to become much worse or more serious, or to make something do this
  • Equilibrium - a situation in which there is a balance between different forces or aspects
  • Militancy - the use of confrontational or violent methods in support of a political or social cause
  • Funeral - a ceremony that takes place after someone dies
  • Rallying point - a place, event, or person that people are attracted to as a symbol of a political group or ideal
  • Protest - a strong complaint expressing disagreement, disapproval, or opposition
  • Stone-pelting - to throw stones with force at someone or something
  • Toll - the total number of people who have been killed or hurt
  • Alienation - the act of making someone stop supporting and agreeing with you
  • Cordon - a line of people, especially police officers or soldiers, that stops other people from going somewhere
  • Initiative - an important action that is intended to solve a problem
  • Gesture - a movement that communicates a feeling or instruction
  • Calibrated - measured and careful
  • Remark - a few words that give the facts or your opinion about someone or something
  • Dialogue - a process in which two people or groups have discussions in order to solve problems
  • Despite - used for saying that something happens even though something else might have prevented it
  • Wound - emotional damage caused by something bad that happens
  • Conflict - angry disagreement between people or groups
  • Parallel - a way in which separate things or people are similar to each other
  • Spiral out of control - to continuously become worse, more, or less
  • Gun down - to shoot someone and kill them or injure them badly,

  • Halt - a temporary or permanent stop in a process

  • Possibly - likely to happen or be true, but not certain
  • Unconditional - without limits or conditions
  • Isolate - to separate something from other things with which it is connected or mixed
  • Civil war - a war fought between different groups of people within the same country
  • Persisting - to continue to exist
  • Ethnic - relating to a group of people who have the same culture and traditions
  • Perhaps - used for saying that you are not certain about something, or that something may or may not be true
  • Wound - an injury in which your skin or flesh is damaged, usually seriously
  • Heal - if an injury heals, the skin or bone grows back together and becomes healthy again

  • Devolve - to take power or responsibility from a central authority or government and give it to smaller and more local regions
  • Majority - most of the people or things in a group
  • Preoccupied - thinking about something so much or spending so much time doing something that you do not notice other things or cannot think about other things

  • Coalition - a temporary union of different political parties that agree to form a government together

  • Address - to give attention to or deal with a matter or problem
  • Concern - a feeling of worry about something, especially one that a lot of people have about an important issue
  • Revive -  to make someone / something become conscious or alive again
  • Neck-deep - deeply involved
  • Desperate - very worried and angry because you do not know how to deal with an unpleasant situation
  • Obvious - clear to almost anyone
  • Haunt - to make someone feel worried and upset for a long time
  • Healing -  the process of becoming healthy again, or recovering from an unhappy experience
  • Look forward to - to feel happy and excited about something that is going to happen
  • Overwhelming - much larger, stronger, more important etc than anything else in a situation
