Interview / Skill Test Schedules for SSC CGL 2013 and SSC Steno C & D 2014 are out

Friends, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the interview / skill test schedules for SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam 2013 (SSC CGL) and SSC Steno ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination 2014. According to the notification released by the SSS,

• The interviews, Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) and Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) for SSC CGL 2013 will be held from 5th January 2015. 
• The Skill Test for SSC Steno ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination, 2014 will be held from 18th December 2014.

• The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery observed today.
• The day marks the date of the adoption, by the General Assembly, of the United Nations Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others.
• The focus of this day is on eradicating contemporary forms of slavery, such as trafficking in persons, sexual exploitation, the worst forms of child labour, forced marriage, and the forced recruitment of children for use in armed conflict.

National Affairs

• The Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated its 49th Raising day today.
• The force was raised on December 1, in 1965.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Nagaland, today announced a package of 28 thousand crore for the establishment of 14 new railway lines in the Northeast.
• He also sanctions five thousand crore rupees to provide 2G mobile coverage in the area.
• Parliament passed the Indian Institutes of Information Technology, IIITs Bill, 2014.
• The legislation enables the four IIITs at Allahabad, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Kancheepuram to be institutes of national importance.
• Piloting the Bill, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani assured the House that these institutions will be developed adhering to the global standards.
• There will be reservations for SCs, STs & Differently Abled persons in admission and recruitment.
• These institutions will develop new knowledge in Information Technology, the Minister added.
• Government likely to introduce Goods Services Tax Bill in current session of Parliament says Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
• Historic Mairie building, old city hall of Puducherry collapsed due to incessant rains.
• A major land mark on the beach Promenade in the erstwhile French colony of Puducherry, Mairie was under restoration with World Bank assistance.
• Before the work could make headway, the building caved in due to its structural weakness.
• 144 year old Town Hall was witness to many a historical event. It was in this building the French citizens of Puducherry voted in the 1871 French elections after the fall of Napoleon III.
• Puducherry Legislature held its sessions for four years in this iconic building after 'De Jure' transfer of power in 1964.
• Andhra Pradesh Government will make all pension disbursements from January -2015 through post offices and recruit fair price shops agents as Postal agents.

• Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis or Champions of Jerusalem, a jihadi group based in the Sinai Peninsula that regularly attacks Egyptian security forces, pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group earlier this month.
