- The 5th Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Media Summit on Climate Action and Disaster Preparedness is being held at Kathmandu (Nepal).
- Nepal’s Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota inaugurated the summit.
- Aim of the summit : To address the issue of fully utilizing media’s potential of accelerating climate action and disaster preparedness and connect stakeholders to media professionals for collaboration and joint practical projects.
- Over 200 participants including political leaders, representatives of UN agencies and NGOs, climate change and disaster management experts, scientists and media persons are attending the summit.
- Theme of the summit : “Media Solutions for Sustainable Future: Saving Lives, Building Resilient Communities”.

- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced it is going to issue new ₹20 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series.

- Derek C Lalchhanhima, a 6-year-old Mizoram boy who rushed a chicken to hospital after he accidentally ran over it with his cycle, has received 'Compassionate Kid' award by PETA India.

Science & Technology
- Harvard University scientists have successfully transmitted radio frequency using semiconductor laser for the 1st time, resulting in the "1st step towards ultra-high-speed WiFi".
- The researchers' development can use lasers to emit microwaves, modulate them and receive external radio frequency signals.
- Note : The 1st sound data transmitted was American actor-singer Dean Martin's song 'Volare'.
New Appointments
- Romania's Doru Isac has replaced Savio Medeira as the new technical director of the Indian Football Team.
- Savio Medeira had been serving as the technical director since Scott O'Donnell resigned from the post
Sports Current Affairs
- In shooting Abhishek Verma secured India's 5th Olympic quota place by winning the 10m air pistol Gold medal at the ISSF World Cup at Beijing, China today.
- He clinched the top spot with a total score of 242.7.
- This is India's fifth 2020 Tokyo Olympic quota after Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela (10m air rifle women), Saurabh Choudhary (10m Air Pistol men) and Divyansh had secured berths in the earlier World Cups and last year's World Championship.
- The BCCI has recommended Indian men's cricket team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, fast bowlers Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, and Indian women's cricket team spinner Poonam Yadav for the Arjuna Award.
- Bumrah is currently the world number one ODI bowler, while Jadeja is the world number three Test all-rounder.
- Poonam Yadav is ranked second in women's T20I rankings for bowlers.
- Australia's 31-year-old umpire Claire Polosak has become the 1st ever woman to officiate in a men's ODI.
- Polosak achieved the feat after taking the field in the final of the World Cricket League Division 2 between Oman and Namibia today.
- India bagged a Gold and two Silver medals at the Asian Boxing Championships in Bangkok today.
- With this, India has won 13 medals, including two gold, four silver and seven bronze.
