Hindu Editorial Topic 1 : "Towards 2019 — on Congress plenary"
  • Plenary - a plenary meeting is intended for all the people in a particular group
  • Granular - including small details
  • Aggressive - someone who is aggressive is very determined to win or be successful
  • Divisive - likely to cause arguments between people
  • Ideology - a set of ideas with a strong social influence
  • Failing - a fault or a weak point that makes someone or something less effective
  • Tirade - a long angry speech criticizing someone or something
  • Scam - a dishonest plan, especially for getting money
  • Absolute - very great, or complete
  • Posit - to say that something is true or that something should be accepted as true
  • Contrast - if one thing contrasts with another, the two things are different from each other, often in a noticeable or interesting way
  • Mere - used for emphasizing that something is small or unimportant
  • Aggression - an angry feeling that makes you want to attack or defeat someone else
  • Inevitably - used for saying that something is certain to happen
  • Hollow - a hollow sound is a low sound like something empty being hit
  • Faintly - in a way that is not clear or strong
  • Echoe - to express the ideas or feelings that someone else has expressed
  • Thesis - an idea, opinion, or theory that is used to explain something
  • Clamour - an urgent request for something by a lot of people
  • Poverty - a situation in which someone does not have enough money to pay for their basic needs
  • Alleviation - the action or process of making suffering, deficiency, or a problem less severe
  • Instil - to make someone have a particular feeling or belief
  • Overbearing - too confident and too determined to tell other people what to do, in a way that is unpleasant
  • Foster - to help something to develop over a period of time
  • In the same breath -  used for saying that someone has said two things that cannot both be true
  • Win back - to get back something that you have lost
  • Entrepreneur - someone who uses money to start businesses and make business deals
  • Vague - not clearly or fully explained
  • Generality - a statement that is not specific but that covers a wide range of situations
  • Resolution - a formal proposal that is considered by an organization and is usually voted on at a meeting
  • Open-ended - an open-ended activity or situation does not have a planned ending, so it may develop in several ways
  • Like-minded - like-minded people, groups etc have similar tastes, interests, and opinions
  • Alliance - an arrangement between two or more people, groups, or countries by which they agree to work together to achieve something
  • Dominant -  more important, powerful, or successful than the other people or things of the same type
  • Ally - someone who is ready to help you, especially against someone else who is causing problems for you
  • Backing - support, help
  • Coalition - a temporary union of different political parties that agree to form a government together
  • Forge - to work hard to achieve something
  • Orientation - the particular interests, aims, and emphasis of a business, political group, or other organization
  • Bending the rules - to allow something that is not normally allowed
  • Nod - approval
  • Neutrino - a particle that is smaller than an atom and has no electrical charge
  • Observatory - a study centre or a building with a telescope which scientists called astronomers use to study the stars and planets
  • Tribunal - a special law court organized to judge a particular case
  • Appraisal -  an opinion about how successful, effective etc someone or something is
  • Overturn - to say officially that something such as a decision or law is wrong and change it
  • Verdict - an official judgment made in a court
  • Intent - the intention to do something
  • Subatomic particle - an extremely small part of matter that forms part of an atom or is smaller than an atom
  • Cavern - a large cave
  • Cosmic - relating to the planets, stars, space, and the universe in general
  • Controversial - a controversial subject, opinion, or decision is one that people disagree about or do not approve of
  • Proximity - how near something is to another thing, especially in distance or time
  • Biodiversity - the variety of different types of plant and animal life in a particular region
  • Hotspot - a popular and exciting place
  • Consent - permission to do something
  • Impact - an effect, or an influence
  • Assessment - the process of making a judgment or forming an opinion, after considering something or someone carefully
  • Tunnel - (of a particle) pass through a potential barrier
  • Side-step - to avoid something difficult or unpleasant
  • Proponent - someone who publicly supports an idea, policy, plan etc
  • Ornithology - the scientific study of birds
  • Unaccredited - not recognized as having attained an acceptable standard
  • Plausible - likely to be true
  • Notwithstanding - despite something
  • Bypassing -  to avoid dealing with someone or something
  • Protocol - a set of rules for the correct way to behave on formal occasions
  • Precedent - an action or event in the past that is used as an example or reason for a present action or event
