American singer and songwriter
Bob Dylan was awarded the
Nobel Prize in Literature for the year 2016. He was honored with this award for “
having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition” announced the Swedish Academy.
The 75-year-old singer has been enthralling audiences with his poignant and provoking songs over the years. Some of his all-time popular numbers include 'Tambourine Man', 'The Times are a-changin'.
With this award to Dylan, the Nobel prizes for the year come to a close.
Note : Last year’s
Nobel Prize in Literature 2015 went to Svetlana Alexievich of Belarus “for her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time”. Ms. Alexievich is the 14th women Literature Laureate.
