International Affairs
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave on a 9-day visit to France, Germany and Canada tomorrow.
- Main Focus of this Visit : To invite investments, particularly in infrastructure and defence sectors, besides cooperation in nuclear and a variety of other areas
- In the first leg of the tour, Modi will travel to France where economy, defence and energy will be high on the agenda of his talks with President Francois Hollande.
- From France, Modi will travel to Germany where again business and technology will be the focus with intent of attracting participation in 'Make in India'.
- He will also unveil a bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Hannover.

- In the third and last leg of the tour, he will travel to Canada, marking the first standalone visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 42 years.
- The last such visit took place in 1973.

- 5th meeting of SAARC Health Ministers was held in New Delhi today.
- Key issues discussed in the meeting were, HIV/AIDS & prevention of communicable and NCD.
- SAARC Ministers pledge to make region polio free; committed for HIV/AIDS free region by 2030
- This meeting was chaired by : Union Ministeter of Health & Family Welfare : J. P. Nadda

- PM Modi launches MUDRA Bank under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, to provide credit to small entrepreneurs.
- This bank which will provide credit of up to Rs 10 lakh to small entrepreneurs and act as a regulator for 'Micro-Finance Institutions' (MFIs).

- The government today approved three highway projects worth Rs 9,500 crore in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, including those connecting Varanasi -- the Lok Sabha constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Snapdeal has acquired mobile recharge platform Freecharge in a deal that is billed as the largest Indian buy out so far in the consumer Internet space.
- The company did not disclose the deal size, which according to sources could be over $400 million in cash and stock.
- With this acquisition, Snapdeal can offer a wide range of products and services, including financial services, mobile recharge and utility payments with a growing user base of over 40 million.

- Sumit Mazumder, CMD, TIL Limited, has been elected president of CII for the year 2015-16.
- He succeeds Ajay Shriram.
- Naushad Forbes, director, Forbes Marshall, has become the president-designate of CII for 2015-16.
- Shobana Kamineni, executive vice-chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited, has been elected vice-president of CII for the year 2015-16.

Awards & Honors
- President of India Pranab Mukherjee confered Padma Vibhushan, country's second highest civilian honour on Amitabh Bachchan at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- Amitabh Bachahan received the Padma Shri in 1984 and the Padma Bhushan in 2001.
- Shia leader Prince Karim Aga Khan, legal luminary K K Venugopal, Dharmadhikari of Karnataka's Shri Manjunatha Swamy temple Dharmasthala Veerendra Heggade, nuclear scientist M Ramaswamy Srinivasan were also given Padma Vibhushan today.
