Success Story NIACL AO (Generalist)

Hi friends, This is Sanchit Sharma sharing my success story of NIACL AO. I graduated in 2013 from DU with 56%. Since my college was not so good there was no campus placement and i had to find a job for myself. It took a while but i got a job in a reputed mnc on a contractual basis. I worked there for 9 months and then quit as i eventually didn't like the job profile and also there was a lot of office politics due to which I did not get a permanent position in the company even though i worked my ass off in these 9 months. Just 1 or 2 months before resigning i was looking at alternatives.  Tried in other mncs but didn't get a job anywhere. Till this point i had absolutely no intention of joining the government sector even though my father works in RBI.

Then through somewhere i got to know about SBI PO vacancies. I read about it online and then consulted my parents who encouraged me to apply. I joined a coaching Institute to prepare side by side with my job but due to odd timings in mncs I couldn't really attend these classes properly. I finally resigned from my job in may 2014 and then began my journey of preparing for govt sector competitive exams. I consulted a few people who were preparing for the same and then joined a new coaching Institute 20 days before my sbi po exam. Due to the limited time i couldn't prepare fully for it as i had no idea how these exams were and what type of questions were asked.

I went for the exam quite nervous as i didn't know how the online mode worked and had no strategy. I attempted 97 questions but got stuck in the reasoning section due to which i couldn't clear it. Then came sbi clerk exam, i was  better prepared than before but my extra focus on doing all questions of English section cost me both the sbi exams.

These 2 exams were the building blocks to my success as i then realized what i was doing wrong and formulated a strategy for correcting it. I also discovered gr8ambitionz during Google searches and it was a happy accident. I cleared the next exam which was IDBI Manipal exam but couldn't get through the interview. My success in the exam gave me more confidence and next up was RBI assistant exam. This exam had extra pressure for me as my dad is in RBI and my family was expecting me to clear it. I attempted 176 questions but managed to score 158 which was 4 marks short of the Delhi cut off. I felt terrible for not meeting my parent's expectations but i also knew i was on the right track as my score was improving.

The main cause of my failure was the GA section as i did not have a habit of reading newspaper regularly. Gr8ambitionz with their pdfs along with other websites helped me improve a lot. After rbi assistant exam i cleared every exam i gave Ibps po(107),Ibps clerk(176) sbi associate PO and NIA AO. The interviews for these exams were okay but the best was NIA interview as it was the 1st interview in which i didn't lose my confidence even if i didn't know the answer. I was confident but also nervous due to less amount of vacancies. Reading your name in the final list is one of the best feelings ever and i experienced it a few nights ago when i saw the result.

After almost a year of sitting at home i finally achieved something and i would like to credit my parents, coaching Institute for their constant support and guidance.  The main credit for my success though goes to Google Maps as the centres allotted for these exams for Delhi NCR candidates (I don't know about other regions) are generally in such remote locations that it is impossible to find them without google maps especially for people having exams in morning shift.

This is quite a long post but after reading so many success stories of others i have today written mine, straight from the heart.

Eat, play, drink, go out with friends or do whatever u like but when u study make sure to stay focused and free from distractions. Your Perseverance will pay off one day. :)
