    To simple guys
    Let total salary =100
    40%(wife)
    20%(Sons)
    now find out remaining salary in the terms of %
    100-(40+20)= remaing is 40%
    now half of 40% goes for miscellaneous items .that 1 is 20%
    and now remaing 20% goes in the bank that is 12000
    so simple now we 20% of 12000 =12000*20/100
    so intial salary is 60000
