International Affairs
  • President Pranab Mukherjee returned home after a "highly successful" four-day visit to Vietnam during which key pacts to further strengthen bilateral ties were signed.
    • This visit also saw the two countries declaring a united Indo-Vietnam stand for free navigation in the disputed waters of South China Sea and adjoining maritime areas.
  • Home Minister Rajnath Singh will leave for Kathmandu tomorrow to attend the sixth meeting of SAARC Home Ministers to be held on Friday. 
  • Saudi Arabia's top religious body "The Council of Senior Ulema", today warned Muslims against joining militant groups, saying their "deviant doctrine" has no place in Islam.
  • Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in India today on a three-day visit. Three MoUs signed on infrastructure, railways and a sister city agreement between Ahmedabad and China's Guangdong province (Read important Highlights of this visit from here)
  • Egypt has summoned the ambassadors of European Union countries to protest a recent EU statement to the UN Human Rights Council which criticized the country's human rights records.
    • The EU, in a recent statement to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, had expressed concern over the human rights record in Egypt, citing "random detention of activists and opposition figures".
National Affairs
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched 11 welfare schems of Gujarat government today under the title of ‘Swavlamban Abhiyan’. The schemes are;
    1. Aid to milk producing cattle and equipments to tribal women,
    2. Distribution of milking machines and chaff cutters among cooperative rural milk producing women groups,
    3. Assistance to cooperative milk producing women groups to build ‘dudh ghar’,
    4. Mukhyamantri Amrutam Maa Vatsalya Yojana,
    5. Assistance for health care to construction labors suffering from occupational health diseases,
    6. Interest benefit to farmers to build warehouse in farm, tablet distribution to ITI apprentice studying computer courses,
    7. Pandit Dindayal Upadhyaya young entrepreneurs scheme,
    8. Benefit in interest on self employment loan to ITI passed apprentice,
    9. Shri Nanaji Deshmukh housing scheme,
    10. Dattopant Thengdi labor interest assistance scheme for construction laborers,
    11. Impex-B’s formation to expand employment oriented services and middle class oriented schemes.
  • India is on the "brink of an urban revolution" with its population in towns and cities expected to reach 600 million by 2031, according to a new UN-backed report which pegged the gap in urban infrastructure investment in the country over the next 20 years at a whopping $827 billion.
  • Andhra Pradesh chief minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, sought cooperation of Australia in helping the state government build infrastructure projects and strengthen roads and drainage networks in the new state.

  • Actor Leonardo DiCaprio appointed as UN Messenger of Peace
  • The sports ministry has finally agreed to give the Arjuna Award to boxer Manoj Kumar.
    • Important Points to Note :
      • The Kapil Dev-led award committee had earlier refused to give the coveted award to the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist.
      • Manoj had filed a case in the Delhi High Court.
      • Later the committee stated that they mistakenly believed that he was involved in a doping case.
Deaths
  • Former Assam Director General of Police Shankar Barua, whose premises were searched by the CBI in connection with Saradha scam last month, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at his residence today.
Sports
  • The Asian Games torch arrived in host city Incheon today, two days before the opening ceremony that will formally inaugurate the two-week competition featuring almost 10,000 athletes.
  • International basketball’s governing body FIBA said that players will be allowed to wear religious head coverings, such as hijabs or turbans, on a trial basis in some competitions.
  • The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 trophy made its first public appearance in Pakistan on Wednesday at the iconic Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore as part of its global tour.
    • Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq received it.

  4. Can someone help me.???? I have my rbi assistants exam on 23 rd of September. I downloaded my hall ticket last week but lost it somewhere and unfortunately I dont have a copy of it. Could you please help me what to do ?

  18. don't blindly follow news paper articles..there are lot of blunders..as far as i know..we cant use BEAT in this context..but yes..u know everything..so no point arguing.
