International Affairs
  • The United States demanded Russia "immediately" withdraw a convoy of vehicles from Ukraine and warned of further international sanctions if Moscow did not respect Kiev's sovereignty.
  • The UN security council has strongly condemned the "heinous and cowardly" murder of journalist James Foley by Islamic State militants and called for the immediate release of all hostages.
 
National Affairs
  • The Supreme Court today refused to postpone the UPSC preliminary examination. "Nine lakh students are ready to appear in exam and it cannot be postponed", SC says while dismissing the plea of a civil services aspirant
  • Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar opened the first edition of northeast film festival at Delhi and said the government is committed to mainstream new initiatives in the region.
  • The Kerala government's intention to bring about prohibition in a phased manner has begun with a new liquor policy that will turn the state into a dry one in a decade.
  • Facing the heat for the removal of whistle blower Sanjiv Chaturvedi from the position of CVO of AIIMS, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan today said all systems in the country's central hospitals have been placed under critical review to end “systemic and symptomatic” corruption.
  • Radha Mohan Singh, Union Agriculture Minister laid the foundation stone for the Saffron Park Project at Pampore Pulwama in J&K today. 

Science & Technology
  • The Indian Navy on Saturday formally received the first fully ingeniously built anti-submarine warfare Corvette (ASW), INS Kamorta, at Visakhapatnam. 
  • India's ambitious Mars Orbiter Mission is just nine million kilometers away from the red planet (189 million kilometres away from the Earth), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said today. It will reach Mars in 33 days.

Business & Economy
  • In its biggest-ever crackdown on a large-scale illicit money pooling scheme estimated at nearly Rs 50,000 crore, regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) ordered immediate closure of unauthorized collective investment schemes run by PACL Ltd and refund of investors' money within three months.

  4. So much fundamental banking oriented Gk & current affairs not direct.....much complicated than SBI PO or RBI exams...The review of 24th august 2014 SBI Clerical exam not so good(I appeared).....(Swagat)
