Date of interview : 10-Feb-2014 (Afternoon)Venue : IOB Regional Office, Anna Salai, Chennai.
Panel : VII ( 1 p.m.)
Category : SC
Document verification started from 3.15 pm to 3.35 pm. The documents should be arranged in the following order:
- IBPS Clerk III online application
- Proof of Identity( PAN card/Voter Id/Passport/AADHAR card and etc,,.)
- Proof of D.O.B(SSLC/HSC marksheet)
- Semester Mark-sheets or Consolidated Marksheet
- Degree certificate or Provisional certificate
- Community certificate as per the format given in the IBPS website(Postscript:If you don't have the prescribed format then atleast bring your Community certificate card which was given in your school and they said from next time onwards they would allow only if the prescribed format has been brought)
- Interview call letter
As usual, there were 4 members among them there was a female member. I was the 16th candidate in the panel. My turn came by 4.30 pm.
Here is the word by word experience of my interview :
Me: May I get in sir?
P3: Please get in.
P2: You are Manikandan?
Me: No sir,I am Manirathinam.(still standing)
P2,P3: Take your seat in unison.
Me: I have settled down and then thanked them.
P3: Manirathinam, tell about yourself,
Me: First of all I would like to thank you for giving me this wonderful oppurtunity.
This is my great pleasure to introduce myself.
I am Manirathinam.
I am from Chennai.
I have completed B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engg., from Sri
Venkateswara College of Engineering at Sriperumbudur.
I have completed +2 from A.K.T.Academy Matriculation Higher Sec School at
Kallakurichi and I have passed 10th standard from Govt Higher Sec School at
S.V.Palayam. Coming to personality, I am a Hard working self motivated and
positive thinking person. Coming to my family, My Father is a daily wager and
my mother is a house maid and I have an elder brother,he is working as a
helper in a printing press,he has got married and has 2 children. This is all
about me sir.
P3: You said your father is a daily wager and what is he actually doing?
Me: I said he is a building construction labour, sir .
P3: Why didn't you get placed in campus interview since your college usually
provides a lot of placement offers?
Me: Sir, I have attended CTS Interview and I am basicallly from Tamil medium and I
was not able to get through the interview since I was not good at English .
Moreover due to recession most of the companier were not showed up,sir.
P3: Ok, it's not an issue. What did you prepare for this interview?
Me: Some basic definitions about bank and its functions,sir.
P3: Apart from banking definition what else you know very well i.e.
sports,politics,current affairs or any favourite subject
Me: I said I am good at Tamilnadu history,sir and l know little bit about Indian
history too.
P3: How many district are there in Tamilnadu?
Me: Totally there are 32 districts,sir.
P3: Which was the last district that has been created recently?
Me: I said Ariyalur district was created from Perambalur district,later on Tirupur
district was created from Coimbatore district,sir.
P2: Say any 4 hill stations in Taminadu?
Me: I said Nilgiris,Yercaud,Aanaimudi and Western Ghats.
P2: Is Western Ghats a hill station? suddenly P3 interrupted and said he missed
Kodaikanal, ok, which is the place where many issues have arisen regarding production of electricity particularly in TN?
Me: I said Cauveri river and P2 said not that one another place and I Guessed and
said Kudankulam Nuclear plant,sir.
P4: Yes,that is the place where people protested against to start nuclear plant.
P2: You said kaveri river in between right, so tell me who was the person
crowned as " Ponniyin Selvi" recently regarding Cauveri River issue?
Me: I said our Honourable CM Selvi J.Jayalalitha,sir.
P2: Why?
Me: I said because she was the one who has struggled many years for the Kaveri
river issue to be notified in Indian Gazatte.
P2: Do you know about Ponniyin Selvan?
Me : I said I don't know, sir.
P1: What is your score in clerk III CWE?
Me: I said 93 ,sir ( P1 and P3 noted it down )
P3: You have studied in Sri Venkateswara College of Engg., and scored 93 marks
in clerk exam so you will not stay as a bank clerk and you will go out if you get
a good job?
Me: But sir I have decided my career as a banker and I would start as a clerk then
I would work hard and get promoted to next scale.
P2: Why didn't you try for PO?
Me: Sir, I have cleared IBPS-PO III CWE and scored just 58, sir.
P1: What was the cutoff to pass the exam?
Me: Sir, as I belong to SC category,I need to score 50 to clear the exam and I got
58,so I am in a danger zone.
P1: 58 is a good score and still you have a chance.
Me: But sir many aspirants scored upto 150 in AP, Haryana and Delhi.
P3: For TN it's a good score.
Me : But sir, IBPS-Clerk cutoff will vary from state to state and it's not so
incase of IBPS-PO.
P3: Tell some of the Public sector and private sector banks based in TN and it's
headquarters?
Me: Indian Bank Headquartered at Chennai, IOB-Chennai, Lakshmi Vilas
Bank - Karur, Karur Vysya Bank - Karur, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank -Tuticorin.
P1: Say some sanctuaries in TN?
Me: Vedanthangal Birds sanctuary, Mundanthurai Tiger reserve,and Vandalur.
P2: Have you heared about Slave dynasty?
Me: Yes sir, Gutub-ud-in-Aybak was the 1st king of slave dynasty.
P2: Who became the next king after him?
Me: I don't know,sir. And in between They gave me snacks and asked me to eat.
P4 : First Bank nationalization
Me: I have started with there are 21 nationalized banks and she asked me to tell
only the year and I said In 1969, 14 banks were nationalized, mam and
she said that's enough.
P3: All the Best, You can leave.
Me: I stood and started moving out,suddenly P1,P2 and P4 asked in unison," did
you read the Tamil news paper that is kept in front of you?" ( There was a Tamil
daily paper in front of me)
P3: Sir he is speaking Tamil very well and there is no doubt it.
P1,P2: Can you write in Tamil?
Me: I said I have completed upto +2 only in Tamil medium and I can read and write
Tamil very well,sirs. They convinced and I thanked all of them and left the room.
Well, this is my interview experience friends and the whole interview was only in Tamil language I have translated them into English in order to make it understandable to other state bank aspirants.

ReplyDeleteSince it has been clearly stated that the course completion should be on or before 01st Aug- 2013 in the IBPS Clerk III notification,you should have completed your degree before Aug 01. They are carefully looking for the age limit and course completion date as per the notification.
Deletei've passed in april 2013 and provisional was issued on 30th may.but in that my father's name was incorrectly printed .so i applied for correction and it was re-issued on 23rd october.my doubt is are they checking the date of passing or the date of issuing?
DeleteDate of Passing is the mandatory one and never mind about date of issuing at all.

DeleteSorry to hear this from you ,Nivetha. I have come across these kind of issues from my schooldays itself and moreover last year also TN state Govt rejected around 1000 TET qualified aspirants just because of not having proper certificates,name mismatch and D.O.B mismatch. Simply you can't blame IBPS in this regard since we had ample of time after the results has been released. So you should have applied and got it earlier and take this as a experience and be aware of these things in future. I am not criticising you Nivetha and don't loose your hope. You might have missed this job but your hard work will never fail and surely it will help you to get another wonderful job like this one.

DeleteIf you applied for tamilnadu/pondicherry region and you don't know to read and write tamil fluently then they will definitely reject you.B'coz when I went for IBPS PO III interview there came a senior and told me that he did't know tamil since he has studied in CBSE and he got cleared IBPS Clerk II CWE and called for interview. During the interview the panels asked him to study a tamil newspaper and he couldn't able to complete a single sentence. The end result-the panels told him that he was rejected as he has not familiar with Tamil language.This is because if we are selected,we would be placed in rural areas in south districts and the people would approach you only in Tamil language for all their bank related tasks statring from account opening,issuing bank passbook,deposit,withdrawl,etc..,

ReplyDeleteBut OBC Non-creamy layer certificate is valid only for 6 months from the date of issue. So make sure that the date of issue on your certificate doesn't exceed 6 months. Otherwise you need to get fresh one.

Bro I am not that much expert in predicting and me too have the same doubt. We will come to know about our result only when the IBPS publishes total-scores and vacancies of statewise,bankwise and communitywise etc.., Until then let's hope for the best.

in my SSLC & PUC mark sheet my father name is mentioned as SHIVASHANKAR T S, but I have mentioned in IBPS Application form as SHIVASHANKAR BHATT T S (In middle sur name added) because in all my govt reg ID like in my ID Proof ,Bank passbook , ADHAR, PAN, VOter ID is as SHIVASHANKAR BHATT T S only. is it ok to show them as my ID Prroof as like same name appeared in Appli form OR it will create any problem while Document checking..kindly advice, THANKS in advance…

ReplyDeleteAs you are a 2010 passed out, so you should have your degree certificate and surely they will ask for and if you don't have it you need tell them a valid reason.
DeleteHi frnd.. Thanks for sharing your experience. I too from Tamilnadu. Going to attend my interview on 14th. In my application form, I've not mentioned that I wrote examination on 2012 and 2011. But, I wrote the exam and got cleared last year and I'm in waiting list now. Whether this will create any problem?
ReplyDeleteThere would not be any record for your previous attemt. And during document verification and personal interview they may ask that you have attempted any of the IBPS exams or not. If you are too smart then don't reveal the truth because your records reg previous attempt is kept with IBPS and not in the interview venue. But yesterday one such surprising incident happened i.e. A guy attended interview of clerk II in panel VII last year and he didn't get any job. This year also he came for clerk III interview to the same panel and the document verification person correctly identified him that he came for the last year also. Let's pray this will not happen in your case.

ReplyDeleteHello Friend ,under any circumstances Name of the candidate, D.O.B and category can not be changed and it's clearly given in the clerk III notification too. Try to get any Affidavit from any of the Gazetted Advocate stating that you are a hindu and not a jain but this is only a safety measure and I am not sure that whether they will allow you to attend the interview or not.

It's not an issue, you can tell them during document verification and they will make corrections reg your % of marks and year of passing.

ReplyDeleteGuys most of you are asking the same question. " You can your percentage of marks and date of passing during the document verification". Don't worry about it and you will be asked more on situational based questions less on banking terms. Be cool and and don't get tensed during the interview since they are mainly testing our stress management ability.

ReplyDeleteGuys please note one thing carefully. If you have intentionally gone through the above interview experience and comments you will not be asking this kind of unnecessary questions. The required documents have been listed one by one at the beginning of this interview experience. Computer certificate is not mandatory and if you have it additionally bring it too.

Hello friend, at any cost you will not be allowed to change your order of preferences. You would have TN based banks as your first preferences such as Indian bank, IOB and followed by Canara bank since they have more number of branches in TN. If you haven't given in this order then don't worry prepare well, hard work never fails and definitely you will get into any of the 19 PSU banks.

ReplyDeleteDon't worry about your % marks and you have entered it correctly. Just multiply your CGPA by 10 will give you the equivalent % of marks. Regarding space in between your name, you have to get an Affidavit from a Gazatted Advocate. Guys please remeber to enter your name in any of the application forms as printed in your "SSLC marksheet". The same form of your name will be automatically followed in your HSC marksheet and followed by Degree certificate as well. Wherever you enter your name have this in mind. ( Post Script: Your spelling can be placed before or after your name and that won't create a problem. For ex: "S Rajasekar" can also be written as "Rajasekar S" but if you write "Raja Sekar S/S Raja Sekar", you will be in grave danger.)

So bring your passport with you for photo identity proof and if u don't have it never mind about the entered name since one or otherway it can also be written like you did.

Incase if you come under OBC-Creamy layer category then you will be treated as General category and there will not be much problem for you. But if you entered as OBC instead of SC/ST/OC then you will not pe permitted to attend the interview.

ReplyDelete@ Anonumous, Surely they will ask you and try to explain that at the time of applying you were not aware of difference b/w OBC-Creamy layer and Non-Creamy layer. Tell them that now only you came to know that actually you belong to OBC-Creamy layer since your parents annual income exceeds Rs 6 lakhs for the past 3 consecutive years.It's better you bring relevant pay-slip of your parents reg this matter. There are possibilities that they would accept this reason and allow you to attend the interview.

ReplyDeleteNo, they won't specifically ask address proof. Your ID proof is mandatory and moreover your voter ID/ driving license/passport will carry your adress too.

First of all I just want to clarify one thing to you, your SSLC & PUC marksheet would carry only your name with initial and there won't be your father's name. But may be your PUC transfer certicate/Conduct certificate may contains your dad's name. In my case I have completed B.E. and my TC has my father's name and degree certificate doesn't has my dad's name, they asked only my degree certificate and Consolidated/semester-marksheets. they have cross checked my father's name with my PAN card. So I think there willl be no problem for you since your Id proof has same name as your online application.

DeleteNarrate your doubt in a simple way and if you still have doubt don't hesitate to approach any advocate regarding this problem because they are the one familiar with these kinds of name mismatch and all. They would give you a proper solution too.
in appln i hav correctly mentioned my father name as nellaiappan.. but in my id proof it as ''nellayappan''.. whether i hav to go with affidavit ..?will it create any prob .. ?

ReplyDeleteHi Dee V, there is no minimum and maximum limits incase of NEFT transaction and for RTGS minimum limit is 2 lakhs and no maximum limit. In both the cases service charges are applicable.
DeleteRTGS is faster than NEFT.
Hi Manirathinam, thanks for giving information. I already know those sir, but heard that practically the money receiving by the banks through RTGS n NEFT is different. There is some limit in transaction wise.. anyways thanks for replying... Done my interview well at Vijayawada. Hope for gud results.
DeleteYes Dee V, RTGS is entirely different from NEFT. NEFT is a hourly based transaction which takes place once in an hour, for example if we take the bank working hour is from 10 a.m to 4 p.m ,then we can avail NEFT transaction exactly at 10 a.m followed by 11 a.m followed by 12 p.m and so on and totally 7 transaction slots on weekdays. On saturday there is only 6 transaction slots available that is one transaction for every half an hour. Whereas RTGS transaction takes place continuously throughout the working time of the bank in an instant way.

In my 10th nd 12th certificates my father name was printed with surname. where as in my B.tech certificate surname was not printed for my father name. in my IBPS application I mensioned my father name same as in 10th certificate(with surname). Is there any problem with this? remaining all the details are correct. can i take any affidavit for this. pls give reply bro....
ReplyDeleteYou need to get one affidavit since your degree certificate is odd one out. You should have got your name printed in the B.Tech degree certificate as it is in 10th/12th mark-sheet.

2). Ask anyone from the nearby shop to go to Indian Overseas Bank Annasalai branch and it'a about 1 KM from there, you need to reach there on foot and no other mode of transportation is available .
Incase if you go from guindy it would be easy to get down very next to IOB regional office and I think you are from North Chennai so it's easy to get there from Central Rlwy station. All the Best , Karthik.

To my tension i was the last person in the panel,i.e 25th person in that panel.Had my certificates verified.The verification officer asked oh you from A.p can speak tamil ,i said yes. can read yes.

DeleteHi Nirmal, the questions asked you were simple and you have answered them too. I would say your interview is upto the mark but your CWE score is somewhat less for OBC category. The only thing we can do is,let's pray the god and hope we will be in.

ReplyDeleteI got Indian Bank from TamilNadu from OBC Category. Today IBPS has released the list of provisionally alloted candidates for the banks on the basis of marks. In that my Roll No is UNRESERVED Category. Why it is like that?

The reasons may be,
Delete1) Your total combined score may be 65.80 and above or
2) You may scored 65.80 and above and may not produced OBC certificate as per the IBPS prescribed format during the interview.
Whatever may be the reason, if you indicate your category as OBC in your IBPS Clerk III online application then you have to get an OBC certificate as per IBPS format and it's available in the IBPS website itself. This is because the highest mark scored by an OBC candidate is 65.80(Refer CWE CLERKS III ANNEXURE B.pdf from the IBPS website). Being as an OBC candidate you may scored more than the marks fixed to OBC category, so you are filled under the vacancy of Unreserved category. You may or may not understand the above explanation,the important point you need to know is
1) Have an "OBC Non-creamy layer" certificate as per the IBPS format which should be obtained during the period from 01.04.2013 to 31.03.2014.(Ignore this point, if you already have submitted the above said certificate during the interview)
Hi Shilpa, IBPS has fixed the highest score for OBC category is 65.80 and you may scored more than that of 65.80. So you are filled under the vacancy of Unreserved category.
