  • Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formed her new cabinet taking the oath of office Sunday for the second consecutive term after last week's controversial parliament polls.
  • More than 25,000 people have fled their homes following a series of eruptions and lava flows from a volcano named Mount Sinabung on the western island of Sumatrain Indonesia, an official said on Sunday.Nepal's newly elected Constituent Assembly will hold its first meeting on January 22 after a compromise was reached between the President and the interim executive head both of whom had claimed their right to call the session.

  • The Coal Ministry has sought suggestions from the stakeholders on the draft bid document pertaining to coal mines to be auctioned in order to ensure greater transparency.
  • US retail giant Walmart has asked the Government to reduce the mandatory local sourcing norm to 15 per cent, saying it cannot meet the stipulated level required to open multi-brand stores in India.
  • State-owned trading firms have so far exported about 3 lakh tonnes of wheat from FCI godowns out of 20 lakh tonnes allowed by the government. “About 3 lakh tonnes of wheat has been shipped so far,” a senior government official said.
