Nagaland Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya (P B Acharya) today sworn in as the new Governor of Manipur. The senior most judge of the High Court of Manipur Justice Lanushungkum Jamir administered him oath of office.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, other Ministers and MLAs of the State, leaders of political parties, top officials of civil and police administration of the State attended the swearing-in ceremony.

P B Acharya gets additional charge will serve as Governor of Manipur from today during the absence, on leave, of Dr Najma Heptulla, Governor of Manipur.

Acharya, a familiar personality in Manipur when he was the Northeast in charge of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been the Governor of Nagaland since July 19, 2014, while Heptulla was appointed as Governor of Manipur in August 21, 2016.
