International Current Affairs
  • The World Wildlife Fund for Nature has organized the 13th annual 'Earth Hour' on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 pm local time. 
    • The worldwide event encourages individuals to turn off non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to the planet.
  • Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn has revoked royal decorations awarded to former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra over his corruption conviction.
    • Shinawatra, who lives in self-exile in Dubai, was ousted in a military coup in 2006.
National Current Affairs
  • The Election Commission and Indian Railways have collaborated to spread voter awareness messages through four long-distance trains : Kerala Express, Himsagar Express, Howrah Express and Guwahati Express
    • The trains will bear slogans like 'My Vote Matters' and will also carry poll-related important contact details. 
    • The trains will cover as many as 19 states.
  • For the first time in Meghalaya, Braille-enabled ballot papers will be made available at all polling booths. 
    • The ballot paper pasted on the EVMs will have the names and symbol of candidates in braille alphabets. 
    • The move will facilitate more than 800 visually impaired electorates to vote by a secret ballot.
Banking, Business & Economic Affairs
  • The Central Board of Direct Taxation (CBDT) extended the deadline to link PAN with Aadhaar by 6 months from March 31 to September 30, 2019.
    • However, it'll be mandatory to quote and link Aadhaar while filing income tax return from April 1, 2019 unless specifically exempted.
  • India offered a $100 million line of credit to Bolivia for financing development projects during President Ram Nath Kovind's visit to the country. 
    • The two countries also signed 8 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in various fields, including visa waiver for diplomats, space and traditional medicine. 
    • Bolivia also joined the framework agreement on International Solar Alliance.
Science & Technology
  • In a first, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) opened a visitors' gallery with 5,000 capacity at Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota island
    • The gallery has a clear line of sight to two launch pads and large screens to explain launcher and satellite features.
  • After a successful anti-satellite (ASAT) missile test, India is set to launch DRDO's EMISAT satellite along with 28 foreign satellites aboard PSLV-C45 on April 1. 
    • EMISAT, a defence intelligence satellite, can identify enemy radar, number of active communication devices and also map topography. 
    • Note : This will be the first time ISRO will launch satellites in three different orbits.
New Appointments
  • Zuzana Čaputová won Slovakia's Presidential election becoming the country's 1st female head of state.
  • Fighter pilot Air Marshal NJS Dhillon was appointed as the new Strategic Forces Command Chief
    • The Strategic Forces Command looks after the strategic nuclear arsenal of the country. 
  • Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, Sohail Mahmood, has been appointed as the country's new Foreign Secretary.
    • He is going to replace Tehmina Janjua, who is the first female Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.
Sports Current Affairs
  • The Indian hockey team lost to South Korea in the final of the Azlan Shah Cup after losing 2-4 in the penalty shootout. 
  • RCB leg-spinner Prayas Ray Barman (16 years and 157 days) has become the youngest cricketer to feature in an IPL match after taking the field against SunRisers Hyderabad.
    • Note : Kings XI Punjab's Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the previous youngest (17 years and 11 days) to feature in an IPL match.
  • Ashleigh Barty, who took a sabbatical from tennis five years ago to play professional cricket, made history at the Miami Open by becoming the tournament's 1st-ever Australian winner
  • Denmark's men's singles badminton player Viktor Axelsen beat India's Kidambi Srikanth in the final to lift his career's second India Open title.
