- National Film Archive of India is going to host European Union Film Festival 2018 from 6th July to 12th July in Mumbai.
- Opening with the French film 9 Month Stretch, the seven days festival will feature24 films all belonging to member countries of the European Union, from a variety of genres such as drama, romance and comedy.
National Current Affairs
- Today (July 4) marks the 116th death anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, who was one of India’s most revered spiritual leaders.
- Through his speeches and lectures, Swami Vivekananda tried to awaken the religious consciousness among people and also tried to uplift the downtrodden using the principles of Practical Vedanta.
- Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda today confirmed that fruit bats are the source of the Nipah virus infection, which killed 17 people in Kerala.
- Note : Bats had earlier tested negative in May, but 55 bats trapped in the second round have tested positive for Nipah.
- The Registrar-General of India (RGI) has recently issued the notification as the process for the 2021 Census kicks in.
- The enumerators would start house listing in 2020, and the headcount would begin in February 2021.
- Important Note : The data collected during the 2021 Census will be stored digitally, the first time since the decennial exercise was conducted in 1951 in Independent India.
- The Election Commission of India has launched a mobile application titled "cVIGIL" to enable citizens to report any violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during elections.
- “cVIGIL" is a user-friendly and easy to operate Android application.
- The app aims at empowering people across the country to share evidence of malpractice by political parties, their candidates and activists directly with ECI.

- As per recently released Prime Database Investment Bankers League table for FY 2017-18, IIFL Holdings Ltd. (IIFL) is India’s top investment bank for equity issuances by private sector companies.
- IIFL is a publicly listed company and is engaged in Investment Banking, Securities dealing, Wealth & Asset Management and Loans & Mortgages.

- The Centre today approved the raise in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for kharif crops in line with its budget announcement to ensure that farmers get at least 1.5 times of the production cost.
- The MSP for paddy has been hiked to around ₹1,750 per quintal from previous year's ₹1,550 and corn increased to ₹1,700 from ₹1,131.
- The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched its in-house developed, single-umbrella e-marketing system named Khadi Institution Management and Information System (KIMIS) in New Delhi.
- KIMIS will serve as in-house single umbrella billing software for sale and purchase that could be monitored, round-the-clock, from any part of India.

New Appointments
- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Major General José Eladio Alcain of Uruguayan Army as Head of Mission and Chief Military Observer for UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).
- He is going to replace Major General Per Gustaf Lodin of Sweden, who completed his two-year assignment.
- The former Chief Operating Officer of MakeMyTrip (online), Mohit Gupta was today appointed as the CEO of Zomato's food delivery business.
- Payments Council of India (PCI) has appointed Vishwas Patel, Director at Infibeam Avenues as its new Chairman.
- He is going to repalace Naveen Surya, who has been elevated to post of Chairman Emeritus.
Sports Current Affairs
- Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Austrian Grand Prix 2018 title in Austria.
- Indian Captain Virat Kohli has become the 1st Indian and fastest overall to reach 2,000 runs in men's T20I cricket.
- Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni surpassed Pakistan's Kamran Akmal to be the player with the most stumpings in T20I history.
- Dhoni, who now has 33 stumpings in T20I cricket, already holds the all-time record of 107 stumpings in ODI cricket and is third overall in Test cricket with 38 stumpings.
- India's para-athlete Yogesh Kathuniya smashed the world record in the Men's discus F36 while winning Gold in the Para-Athletics Grand Prix in Berlin.
- Kathuniya threw 45.18m, which is more than two metres than the earlier world record of 42.96m set by China's Cuiqing Li last year.
