International Current Affairs
  • President of India Ram Nath Kovind has concluded his visit to Equatorial Guinea and left for Swaziland for the second leg of his visit to three African nations (Equatorial Guinea, Swaziland and Zambia). 
    • The visit, the first by a President of India to Equatorial Guinea, saw the signing of three MoUs in the fields of AYUSH and traditional medicine; medicinal plants; and an action plan for Information and Communication Technology.

  • Marking the growing prominence of India in the global energy map, the 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial (IEF16) is being hosted by India.
    • The forum is being co-hosted by China. 
    • This Forum will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11th April. 
    • Note : IEF16 is the largest gathering of Energy Ministers from across the globe, industry leaders and heads of key international organizations who will debate the future of global energy.
  • India and Nepal have agreed to boost cooperation in connectivity sector as they decided to develop inland waterways for cargo movement within Protocol to Treaty of Transit between the two countries.
  • India has agreed to build strategic railway link between Raxaul in Bihar and Kathmandu in Nepal to facilitate people-to-people (P2P) contact and bulk movement of goods. 
    • These announcements were made after delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli who was on three-day visit to India.
National Current Affairs
  • A 2-day Scientific Convention is being organised in New Delhi by Ministry of AYUSH on the occasion of World Homoeopathy Day
    • Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will be the chief guest of this convention. 
    • Theme of this Convention : "Innovate: Evolve; Progress: Exploring Science since 40 years".
  • The 8th edition of Theatre Olympics concluded in Mumbai, Maharashtra after glorious run of 51 days across 17 cities of India and showcasing rich heritage and culture across length and breadth of the country.
    • Note : The 8th Theatre Olympics was biggest international theatre festival held in India for first time. 
Awards & Honors
  • President Ram Nath Kovind was today conferred with the Highest Civilian Honour given to a non-citizen by Equatorial Guinea
    • He was bestowed with the honour by Equatorial Guinea's President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo as a recognition of his contribution to security, development, and world peace
MOUs & Agreements
  • India and South Korea signed mutual recognition of certificate of competency of seafarers to provide Indian seafarers employment on over 500 Korean ships.
    • It was signed during four-day visit of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to South Korea.
Science & Technology
  • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is set to launch the Parker Solar Probe, also being called as the humanity's first mission to the Sun, on July 31. 
    • The spacecraft will orbit directly through the solar atmosphere, closer than any human-made object has ever gone.
  • China has unveiled a Cloud-Seeding Project intended to force rainfall and snow over an area roughly three times the size of Spain. 
    • As part of the plan, China will build combustion chambers to spray silver iodide towards the sky by burning solid fuel. 
Banking, Business & Economic Affairs
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has placed 11 Public Sector Banks (PSBs) out of 21 State-owned banks under its Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) framework because of deteriorating performance. 
    • Three-four more PSBs are expected to be brought under PCA framework.
    • The 11 banks are :
      • Allahabad Bank
      • Bank of India (BoI)
      • Bank of Maharashtra (BoM)
      • Central Bank of India
      • Corporation Bank
      • Dena Bank
      • IDBI Bank
      • Indian Overseas Bank

    Sports Current Affairs
    • Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel won his second Grand Prix in as many races, at the Bahrain Grand Prix, while Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas finished second.  
    • Commonwealth Games 2018 :
      • India defeated Nigeria 3-0 to clinch Gold in the Men's table tennis team event for the first time since 2006. 
      • Indian shooter Jitu Rai broke the Commonwealth Games record with a score of 235.1 in the men's 10m Air Pistol event to win his career's second Commonwealth Games Gold
        • In the same event, another Indian shooter Om Mitharval won the Bronze medal to take India's medal tally to 15, including eight gold and three silver.
      • India's 17-year-old shooter Mehuli Ghosh set a Commonwealth Games joint record to win Silver in the women's 10m Air Rifle event.
      • Weightlifter Pardeep Singh lifted a combined weight of 352 kg in the men's 105 kg category to bag India's third Silver medal and 13th overall medal.
