- Stark - used for describing an unpleasant fact or situation that is very obvious or impossible to avoid
- Contrast - a noticeable difference between people or things
- Desire - a strong feeling of wanting to have or to do something
- Bolster - to make something stronger or more effective
- Insulate - to protect someone / something
- Crisis - an urgent, difficult, or dangerous situation
- Broker - to arrange something such as a deal, agreement, etc. between two or more groups or countries
- Intervention - a situation in which someone becomes involved in a particular issue, problem etc in order to influence what happens
- Steer - to influence the way that something happens or the way that people behave
