- Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena today announced that the nationwide state of emergency has been lifted.
- Note : The emergency was imposed to control communal violence after Buddhists and Muslims clashed in the country's central district of Kandy.
- Mauritius President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim resigned today amid a financial scandal over the use of a credit card given by an NGO to buy personal luxury items.
- The US and Israeli military officials have launched a month-long joint military exercise titled "Juniper Cobra 2018".
- The biennial drill is jointly held by the Israeli military and the US European Command (USEUCOM).
- Pakistan is not going attend the World Trade Organisation (WTO) meeting to be held in Delhi next week amid the ongoing diplomatic tension between the two nations.
- Note : India has invited ministers of more than 50 nations including the US and China to attend the meet.
- The 5th World Ocean Summit 2018 was recently held at Riviera Maya, Mexico.

- The spring festival of Gudi Padwa, which marks the traditional new year for many in Maharashtra and Goa, among others, is being celebrated today.
- Festival to mark the new year, Ugadi, is being celebrated by many in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
- Lunar new year festival Sajibu Cheiraoba is being celebrated in Manipur.
- To promote the production and sale of Jackfruit, the Kerala government is going to declare it as the state fruit .
- The Union Health Ministry today revealed that Maharashtra generates the highest amount of biomedical waste in India (70,000 kilograms).

- Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) paid tribute to former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya with a book titled, 'A Tribute to Jagu'.
- The cricket association felicitated Dalmiya posthumously as the greatest non-Sri Lankan contributor to Sri Lankan cricket.
- Dalmiya’s son, Avishek, joint secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) was invited to receive the commemorative book.

- Vietnam’s Nguyen Huong Giang has been crowned this year’s “Miss International Queen” in Thailand.
- Note : Miss International Queen is the world's largest and most prestigious beauty pageant for transgender women.
Banking, Business & Economic Affairs
- Indian e-payments and e-commerce brand Paytm has launched two wealth management products under 'Paytm Gold', called 'Gold Gifting' and 'Gold Savings Plan'.
- Gold Gifting : With Gold Gifting, users will be able to send 24K 999.9 Purity gold to others digitally.
- Gold Savings Plan : This will let users save gold as per their requirement by entering the duration and amount of gold they want to save.
- According to recently revealed RBI data, as much as ₹11,302 crore belonging to over 3 crore account holders is lying unclaimed with 64 banks.
- The largest amount of ₹1,262 crore is lying with State Bank of India (SBI).
- Punjab National Bank (PNB) stood at 2nd position with ₹1,250 crore.
New Appointments
- China today appointed the country's former anti-corruption chief Wang Qishan as the Vice President.
- All India Radio's News Services Division (NSD) director general Sitanshu Kar will be the next Head of the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
- Kar will Frank Noronha who is going to retire on 30th April 2018.
Sports Current Affairs
- Indian Super League football club owned by MS Dhoni and Abhishek Bachchan Chennaiyin FC won the Indian Super League for the second time after defeating Bengaluru FC in the finals.
- Chennaiyin's defender Mailson Alves, who scored a brace, was named player of the match.
