Meet the new Chairman of UPSC - Alka Sirohi

President Pranab Mukherjee today appointed Alka Sirohi, a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as its Chairman. She is going to replace the current chairman Deepak Gupta, who is leaving the office on attaining 65 years of age on 20th September 2016.  Sirohi's appointment will be effective from 21st September 2016. Sirohi was sworn in as Member of UPSC in January 2012, after a long and successful career in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The appointment is till further orders or till completion of her term as Member on January 03, 2017, whichever is earlier.

About UPSC : 
UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)  is India's central agency authorised to conduct the Civil Services Examination, Indian Forest Service examination, Engineering Services Examination, Combined Defence Services Examination, National Defence Academy Examination, Naval Academy Examination, Combined Medical Services Examination, Special Class Railway Apprentice, Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, Combined Geoscientist and Geologist Examination, and Central Armed Police Forces(Assistant Commandant) Examinations.
