Meet the Miss World 2015 : Mireia Lalaguna Royo

Spain's  Mireia Lalaguna Royo has won the Miss World crown for the year 2015. The 23 year old model from Barcelona was honored with this crown at the competition held in the southern Chinese island resort of Sanya. She was handed her crown by the reigning Miss World 2014, Rolene Strauss of South Africa.

Sofia Nikitchuk of Russia was the runner-up and Indonesia's Maria Harfanti took third place. A total of 114 women were competed for this crown. Miss Jamaica, Sanneta Myrie, 24, and Miss Lebanon, Valerie Abou Chacra, 23, were in the top five.

Important Note :  Mireia Lalaguna Royo's victory marked the first-ever win for a Spanish contestant.

The Miss World pageant is the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant. The first Miss World contest was held 64 years ago in Britain.
