My interview experience of United India Insurance Assistants

Hi, I am Sridharan from Chennai. I appeared for UIIC Assistans Interview on 7th March at Chennai Egmore.

When I reached, 4 to 5 people(aged above 40) shook hands with me and greeted with full enthusiasm. I was surprised to see this. They noted my roll number and phone number. (Later came to know that they belong to employees union and probably they will ask us to join their union, if we get selected).

Please reach 10 mins in advance.

They verified all my documents. Original as well as duplicates. Duplicate copies should have both gazetted officers signature and your signature(self-attestation). People were kind enough, that they didn't scold anyone for not bringing any of the certificates. If you miss any document or certificate, they will ask you write in an A4 sheet, " I promise to show my originals and submit my duplicates before I join, if I get selected". Some people will ask you to bring, if your home is nearby or will ask to bring it on the next day.

But Interview data sheet and 2 character certificates are mandatory. Don't forget them. Without that, they won't allow.

Then came CPT(Computer proficiency test). They gave a paper with a paragraph of 7 to 8 lines, which is to be typed in MS-word and a tabular column which is to be typed in MS-Excel.

MS-Word

Take care of punctuations, spaces, alignment, bold, italic and all other aspects while typing the paragraph. Don't do any mistake in typing. Whatever is there in the paragraph, type it as it is.

MS-Excel

You should know to merge 2 or 3 cells, split 2 or 3 cells in excel. Type all the data, add it (using formula or auto-sum button). Don't forget to put border as like in the given paper. Because, after taking print out, border only will make it look like a table.

After waiting for 1 hour, I was called for interview.

3 men and 1 woman was there.

Why do you prefer insurance job after your computer engineering degree?

You are getting good pay in your current IT company. You will get only half as salary in Insurance Assistants. Is that fine?

Won't you leave this job, if you get officer post in some other company?

Why don't you try for some other office post or for IAS?

After your so much of experience in IT industry, how and why do you switch to insurance? both are completely different fields.

Interview was very smooth. One interviewer spoke in Tamil, while others spoke in English.
