IBPS Specialist Officers Interview Experience

Hi friends, I am Joshua Miranda. I'm a regular reader of Gr8AmbitionZ.com. Almost 1 year ago I had my IBPS Specialist Officers (IT Officers) Interview at Trivandrum, Kerala on 18th March 2014. Here I am sharing my interview experience so that it may give our friends the basic idea. All the Best :)

I used to prepare for GATE exam and that knowledge helped me alot to clear the online test. As soon as the interview call letters were out, I started reviewing the gate study material I had. But to my surprise, i had faced very less questions from the subject.

There 5 five members in my panel (all were men). They asked the following questions

• One question about whereabouts (I stay in hyderabad but applied for Kerala as it was my native place. so they asked me about this)
• About my family background
• Almost three to four questions on maths (dont know why they asked these but they asked me the difference b/w SI and CI and few formulas)
• They asked a few basic questions on Computer Network, DBMS like GUI, Router, advantage of DBMS in banks, why SO instead of PO etc.. (asked about Microprocessors too, i said i dont have good knowledge in that)
• Later asked about my B.Tech project (bluetooth protocol implementation using java). Actually it was a dummy project. But I explained it to my level best for almost 2 to 3 mins. The guy who asked this que was just nodding instead of shooting any questions.

They just listened what ever i said. No cross questions no facial expressions.. nothing.

My suggestions

• What ever your field may be, just make a convincing answer on how your field will helpful in bank.
• Read basic questions about banking.
• Read about your project. You can expect 1 definite question about it.
• Read previous PO interview experiences of gr8. The interview pattern of PO and Specialists is completely same. So it may help you in getting good idea. 
• If they ask any question related to field, even if you have basic knowledge about that question just say the answer confidently instead of saying Don't know. What i observed was, the interviews too dont have full command on core subjects. But be careful. Don't bluff.  
• Try to bring all the documents without fail. Sometimes the checking team do over action and may not allow you fr interviews. 
• Those people who forgot to take their IBPS SO applications no need to worry. They will activate the download link at the time of interviews.
