SBI Associates PO Interview Experience from Hyderabad

Hi friends, I am Abhinay Vishwanath.I did my B Tech in Mechanical engg . I had my SBI Associates PO GD/PI at SBIRD, Hyderabad on February 26, 2015. Panel no 1 and the time was 8 AM.

Sorry for the delay as I could have posted sooner coz I'm very lazy :p

Here goes my Experience:
The document verification was very strict. It started at 8 AM and was completed at around 10:30 AM. Those who are yet to attend the interview plz carry all the originals. A beautiful girl candidate from my panel forgot to get one or two originals and she was grilled based on that. Felt bad for her. A guy brought his PC instead of his OD . He too was grilled. Finally no worries for them as they were instructed to write a letter to the AGM and were allowed for the GD/PI.

There were about 14 candidates and 5 panel members in the GD.

GD topic : Should the government invest more on Higher education institutes like the IITs or on Primary& Secondary education?

We were given 2 min to think abt d topic, 2 min for each candidate and 15 min for open discussion.
I had a lot of ideas on the topic but could give only 3-4 points. I was the 2nd to speak. Remember the beautiful girl I was talking about? She was the 1st to speak. Almost everyone was repetitive . A VH candidate who was in our panel was very refined in conveying his thoughts and was outstanding in the GD. I learnt from him as my points were good but disorderly and I gave my viewpoints in less than a min.He utilised the 2 min.

Finally, the Interview:
The same people in GD were present for interview and they were the Panel Head(P), Lady(L), Males M1, M2, M3

P:   So, Mr.AB... u did ur B Tech in Mech engg?
Me: yes,sir
P:    Passed out when?
Me:  2014,sir
P:    so ur hobby is the Bhagavad Gita ?
Me:  yes,sir
P:    tell me a shloka
Me:  told
P:     that is not from the Gita?
Me:  Yes, sir it is
P:     sry but I'm not as spiritual as u r and i dnt know the Gita
Me:  Laughed
p:     Exactly what is d Gita?
Me:  Told
P:     Whose teachings of the Gita do u read?RamaKrishna Paramhamsa's?
Me:   Yes sir I try to understand his Telugu translated version
p:     So didn't u get a core job?
Me:   I haven't tried sir
p:     Did ur Gita tell u so?
Me:   yes sir,it told me to follow my interest without expecting favors from others
P:    recently our PM launched a program for ur core field?
Me:  Yes, sir the Make in India Prog
P:    Can't u get a job there?
Me:  I presume they don't take candidates from a low level college such as mine?
P:    so urs is a low level colg. tell me its name?
Me:  told
P:    So ur degree is a waste?
Me: Yes,sir (with a sad face though i'm gud at engg also  :P)
P:   Tell me about SBH?
Me : (Very embarrassed)I do not know sir
P:    Nothing? Say something which u know
Me:(Angry with myself coz i didn't read history of these banks even though it crossed my mind) However told the MD, branches and one other pt

P passed the baton to F:
F:    So ur father is working at IRISET? What does he do there?
Me:  told
F:    Which is d largest employer in India?
Me:  Indian Rlys
F:    No of employees?
Me: Don't know mam
F:    U r goin 2 be a PO will u encourage sports nd how?
Me: Those who play sports must b given contractual appointment , be made to work 3-4 days a week rem time for sports
F:    Y did u fail SBI clerk but qualify in POs?(IBPS,IBPS RRB,SBI Asso)
Me:coz clerk reqs speed which I don't have but I depend heavily on accuracy which was helpful for PO

M1: u play PC games?
Me: yes,sir
M1: name a few
Me: told
M1: Which graphic card?
Me: told
M1: diff b'n USB nd Parallel port?
Me: Dk sir

M2: r u happy with d answer?
Me: no,sir
He laughed,I too laughed

Finally, M3: so,Football is ur hobby? Who won d Fb WC 2014?
Me: Germany sir.
M3: No it s not
Me: Yes sir it is Germany
M3: Hockey WC 14?
Me: Germany
M3:Tell me how electricity is generated?
Me: Told
M3: name a few energy sources?
Me: told
M3: what is LASER?
Me: told
M3: Where is LASER used?
Me: Manufacturing & Health sectors sir
M3:In defence?
Me: yes,sir

P,M1,M3 were looking  suspiciously at me throughout my interview. F was preoccupied writing something . I guess my answers seemed rude to them and another reason could be my laughter (controlled) while answering a few ques.
Still, a very good experience.
