Today's (14th June 2014) SBI PO Online Exam Review

Friends, I am G. Suresh Kumar from Hyderabad. I have attended today's SBI PO online exam dated 14-06-2014 (Morning Session). Here I am sharing my review so that it will be helpful for those aspirants who are attending the exam. Here is the section wise review.

Sectional wise review of SBI PO Online Exam 2014

Reasoning : I've started with this section. The paper was ok but little time taking. It was like any normal reasoning paper of PO level with all those all cats are bats sort of questions. I wasted much time on seating arrangement section (8 people from 8 cities, a person comes on Monday, other person comes on Tuesday bla bla bla). I couldn't get the answers for these questions at the first attempt. So I had to spend few more minutes to correct my mistakes. It ate up most of the time. Remaining questions were moderate.

Data Interpretation and Analysis : As I've mentioned above, I wasted my time on reasoning section so hurriedly started the DI section. There were pie charts, graphs and tables. As this is the online exam, we are unable to check the entire paper at once. So I had to start with the first question itself (pie chart). All the questions of pie chart are very tough which involves huge calculations of percentages and etc. I could solve 2 pie charts and one graph. But to my surprise, the last question was a table. It was very easy. You can pick the correct answer from a single glance. But unfortunately I don't have enough time to focus on it. 

English Section : This is also of basic PO level. Moderate section. Almost all are the questions of expected type. With those paragraphs and grammar. 

Marketing and Computer Sections : Being a post graduate IT, I felt the computer questions are very easy (easier than IBPS PO Computer Knowledge section). And the marketing section was also very easy. You can easily solve almost all the questions with common sense and a little knowledge on marketing basics. 

General Awareness : I expected too much from this section. As I couldn't spend much time for the preparation of this section. But luckily this section was also very easy. There are few questions from banking most of them are from basic current affairs (like the head of Tata steel etc). They didn't experiment with this section. The overall paper was moderate level.

Descriptive Test : This section was also as expected. We got questions from all types they've mentioned in the notification. In letter writing they've asked about a complaint letter to the bank manager about the misbehavior of employees (you are a customer who visits the bank regularly, but you are not satisfied with their response) and a letter to the news paper editor about punching pins on notes.....something like an essay mentioning the problems of punching pins on notes, how the pins spoil the notes,  what problems you will face with those type of notes etc. I will try to recollect the whole paper and will share it by this evening.

Important Points to Note :

•  Check till the last question before you start answering (especially for Data Interpretation section). It will hardly take two to three minutes. But it not only saves your valuable time but also helps you to fetch more marks by answering easy question first. 
• When I told her how I wasted my time on reasoning, the first question of Gr8ambitionz admin was "Why didn't you switch to another question instead ? Well my answer is "i have already wasted my time on this question. I know that I can solve this question if I spend few more minutes. My total reasoning section will be messy if I hurriedly switch to another question and if I get the same problem there. In fact, I can easily get 8 marks if I can solve this question (kind of do or die situation). So I choose to stay on that question and luckily I got the answers. 
• No need to worry about the GA and Marketing section but try to read the material provided by this site (especially basic marketing and banking details and the quick guide).
• Try to solve the previous questions papers of POs. It will help you alot.
• Focus more on Pie Charts, Seating Arrangement and basic English grammar. 
• For descriptive personally I prefer writing about banks (they will definitely ask you something related to banks).
