Important Points to Note :
- The Reading Comprehension topic claims the Lion's share of the exam. It will be of 10 to 15 Marks.
- There will be a guarantee question from Cloze Test too. You will get 5 to 10 marks from this section.
- Sentence Rearrangement, Spellings and Sentence Improvement will fetch you 5 marks each.
- They never asked questions from Idioms & Phrases. But its better to prepare these too, as they will come handy while solving the questions of reading comprehension and cloze tests.
How to prepare the English Section of SBI Clerks ?
As we always say, if you already have been preparing for any competitive exam like SSC CGL or IBPS, then it just will be a cake walk for you to clear this section. If not, or if you are a non English medium student, then you should focus more on this section. To prepare for the exam, you should focus on 3 things. We call them GVC, Those are,
- Grammar : For grammar, you can follow any English grammar book of your local language (Hindi-English, Tamil-English, Telugu-English etc.,). Read and understand all the basic grammar rules and try to write new sentences on your own.
- Vocabulary : For vocabulary, try to learn at-least 5 new words per day (with meanings, synonyms and usage). We are planning to start a new vocabulary session, we will try to start it from the next week.
- Comprehension : This is the heart of the English section. A number of people tend to leave this topic because they feel that its very time taking. But, with a little focus and preparation, you can easily grab full marks from this section. Luckily for clerical exam they won't give you difficult passages which involves technical words. They just give you small stories or the articles with simple English. Practice our Speed Reading Techniques, and you will be able to solve them in very less time. Speed reading not only helps you for reading comprehension section but also helps you to get good marks in cloze test too. So prepare well.
That's all for now friends. Feel free to use the comments section below if you have any doubts regarding the English section of SBI Clerks. We will try to answer them. Happy Reading :)
