South Indian Bank Clerks Interview Experience - Tamilnadu Division

Hi friends, I am Sudhakaran Kandaswamy. Here I am going share my interview experience of South Indian Bank-Clerks, Tamilnadu division.

And this is yet another bank exam for me. Attended 146 questions with 95% accuracy and got the interview call dated 10-03-2014

My Qualification : BE Mechanical engineering-2010 passed out.

Experience : Nil, was doing outsourcing business.


Interview Venue : South Indian bank regional office,sterling road, Chennai.

Time : 9.00- First batch

Verification started by 9.30 for me, being the first in the roll number.Verified the certificates with the HR.Recruiting executive unaware whether to accept the call letter or not,then finally accepted it:P

Interview Time:9.45

Entered the interview room,Wished all the three (3 gentlemen)

M1:Take your seat.OK,tell me about yourself,family,siblings

Me:Told,started like"sir i did my schooling from...."

M1:Being a mechanical engineer how can you help us?

Me:Though engineering is not directly linked to banking,i could contribute using my mathematical skills(?),Problem solving abilities,ability to learn new software and codes,and technical improvements in this new generation banking.blah blah.

M1:So you are being a mechanical engineer,what are the automobile companies in chennai u know?

Me:Hyundai,Ashok leyland,skoda,daimler etc

M1:Can you do marketing? (Really should i do marketing?:P)

Me:Though i dont have experience in it,if efficient training is provided i can cope with and can do it successfully.

M1:Do you have a bank account?

Me:Yes sir, in Indian bank.

Then M2,

M2: After your graduation?

Me: Sir, i was preparing for SSC exams and was unsuccesful and startedup a 10 seater BPO also flunked it, after a year and half it started.

M2:why didnt you choose IT field(Irrelevant why should i choose IT,being a mech engg)?

Me:Sir....(he got a phone call and returns back to me and forgot the question).But i told him something that is satisfying.

Then M3,

M3: Who is the chairman of RBI?

Me: Raghuram rajan( Correct i suppose)

M3:Do you have a bank account? (again)

Me:Yes sir, in Indian bank.

M3: Can you open a bank account in RBI?

Me: No sir, no individual can open a account with RBI since it is a banker's bank

M3:Functions of RBI?

Me:
issuing of bank notes
banker to government
custodian for cash reserve for commercial banks
custodian of foreign currencies
lender of last resort-emergency advances to banks
central clearance and account settlement
controller of credit

M3: Can you start as a front office executive(clerk) here?

Me: Yes sir, though the entry level work starts here(front office or clerk or office assistant) in banking, i would like to start obviously.

M3: ok.

They concluded and i left wishing them.Total time of the interview is 15mins.

I dont know how i endedup, but hope this will help someone.Attend the interview,this will give you some experience.

  4. hi sudhakaran..can u tell how u prepare for banking exam,,,r u finished any course...i was selected in ibps rrb..but my bad luck they didn't cal me for interview..

    1. I'm noone to advice,but as a fellow job aspirant i would say For banking exams just follow Gr8ambitionz and The Hindu thats enough.If you want to dig in detail go for pratiyogita kiran or darpan.By the way me too qualified for IBPS rrbs but didnt get interview call.All the best

    moreover me too belonging to your status in written.... but my interview was very casual i mean there is only two banking question rest is personal like schooling, family and hometown.....interview was vaguely around ten mins...
