Attention Friends who are going to attend the IBPS Clerks Interviews Next week : RBI's 3rd Quarter Monetary Policy Review is the only major event in the Banking Sector which was recently happened in the year 2014. So you definitely will get a question from this area in your clerical interview. So focus more on this topic. If you can't understand the content which was posted below, then at least try to remember the current rbi rates with definitions from here. All the Best

The Reserve Bank of India has announced its third quarter monetary policy review on 28th January 2014 (Tuesday). In this review the RBI surprisingly hiked key policy interest rates by 0.25 per cent to tame inflation. According to the experts, this move would make home, automobile and other loans costlier and further dampen industrial growth. This policy clearly communicates that the "price stability" remains the overriding objective of the RBI's monetary policy and the focus has shifted from WPI-based inflation to CPI-based inflation as the nominal anchor of the policy. The Monetary policy review to be undertaken in two months cycle, next monetary policy review of RBI will be on on 1st April 2014. Below are the highlights of RBI's 3rd Quarter Monetary Policy Review for the year 2014.

RBI’s third quarter monetary policy review - Highlights
  • The Repo Rate was increased to 8 per cent from 7.75%.
  • The Cash Reserve Ration (CRR) kept unchanged at 4%
  • The Reverse Repo rate has been adjusted to 7 %
  • The MSF rate increased by 0.25 %
  • CPI inflation remains high
  • GDP growth to be less than 5 per cent in the current fiscal
  • Growth to improve to 5.5 per cent in 2014-15
  • Current Account Deficit to be below 2.5 per cent this fiscal
  • March-end inflation could exceed 8 per cent
  • Rate hike will set economy securely on disinflationary path
  • Growth likely to lose momentum in Q3 of 2013-14.
  • Slowdown in economy getting increasingly worrisome
  • Inflation is a tax that is grossly inequitable, falling hardest on the very poor
  • Fiscal and monetary authorities should continue to work for macroeconomic stabilisation
  • These reviews are according to  Urijit Committee recommendations.
  • Next monetary policy review will be on April 1st 2014

  6. While applying IBPS clerks III I have not mentioned my Surname...Whether it will create any problem for interview?
    Pls any one reply

    Replies
    1. No issues.... i didn mention my Initial in PO (but in all my certificates my name is printed with Initial). I got an affidavit as a precaution while going for interview. But they didn't bother about the surname (even you can see Middlename and surname are optionals in IBPS applications).

So, if you wish and want to be pre cautious get an affidavit. No need to worry about it unless any mistake in ur name.

      All the best.

  7. IBPS-PO3:
    1. tough paper (compared to earlier papers)
    2. less people passed (vacancy to pass ratio)
    3. more vacancy(approx.22000)
    4. medium level interview (avg. interview toughness)
    5. Portion of candidates absent for interview and good portion rejected due to caste certificates and graduation dates causing ineligibility

    Conclusion: (Self analysis based opinion)
Total cutoff for all d category after interview will go low and most of the candidates will be selected. Also there might be second list as some candidates may not join due to not desirable bank allotment and far-off posting. So, candidates with okay marks in paper and decent interview will also definitely get selected.

  24. Job Role and Responsibilities of a Clerk

Interviews starting from Monday, a very important question that can be asked to you is regarding the job that you need to handle once you are selected. Lets see what a clerk does.

Before starting that, first understand two concepts which are widely used in case of day to day baking. One is that of a Checker and the other is Maker. The person who does a particular task is simply termed as Maker and One who checks it is a Maker. The liability of Checker is more, as his role is to check the correctness regarding any transaction. Generally a clerk performs the role of Maker and Officers are Checker. ( Though in case of loans an Officer is a Maker and Branch Manager is the Checker. Clerk does not have any role in case of loan sanction ).

Another point is that the branch strength is a big problem every where in the country be it a Urban Branch/Semi Urban Branch or a Rural Branch. Mostly you will see branches of 4+2 in Tier II cities which means there are 4 clerks and 2 Officers working with other sub staffs and Branch Manager.

Now lets start with the job role and responsibilities.

A clerk is an entry level employee of Bank. Most of the customer dealing is handled by him.

The person inside a box dealing with cash (Deposit and Withdrawal Counter) is a clerk. So a cashier is basically a clerk. So opening the day with XYZ amount of cash and then closing the day after accepting money as deposits and withdrawals must tally with the closing balance.

Verification of cheques, making of demand drafts is done by clerks.

Opening of Deposit Account and explaining the procedure to customer is done by clerk. Pass Book Maintenance ( Updation through printers ), Issue of Cheque Books is done by clerk.

Back Office work ranging from ledger maintenance, keying data in computer is also a role of Bank Clerk.

Going out of Office to Clearing House for clearing cheques is done by Clerks.

Apart from all these things any other work as per the guidance of seniors.

  25. IBPS CLERK -3 129 MP General Any chance ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No chance. if you look at Previous cut off for Madhya Pradesh for general category than you would see that minimum cut off was 65.41 and they follow 80:20 i.e. 80% will be Written marks and 20 for Interview. in this way you obtained 51% out of 80% and if you get around 10 marks in interview than your total will go around 61% which is very less than previous year cut off. Also vacancies is somewhat less than previous for Clerk level in all india level .

      So no chance buddy.

    2. Hi friend,
I have also made the same mistake. Instead of 84.19 % I've entered 84.91%. I was completely disturbed for a week after getting the printout of my application form. I discussed with all my friends regarding this. Later I stopped thinking about that as nothing I can change in it(past is past). I've decided to prepare well for the interview and in case situation arrives I'll confess this mistake in front of interview panel.
All my friends, those who were already selected and working as bank employees told there is no such check and it is a minor( since I got more than 60 % marks ), however I would preferably confess during interview(depending on the time & situation).
I suggest you to prepare well for the interview and do well in interview.

      All the best.

      Regards,
      Pandu
