- Scientists from Columbia University, New York discovered neurons that prevent formation of fearful memories in hippocampus. Researchers hope study could be first step in developing new treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety attackS.
- US space agency NASA said it would launch a water-related satellite in collaboration with India's ISRO.
- US engineers have developed the world's fastest car with a top speed of an incredible 435 kilometres per hour.
- BlackBerry Ltd unveiled a new, cheaper touchscreen smartphone and a "classic" model with a keyboard, as it tries to stem losses and win back once-devoted security-conscious business and government users.
