Friends, we have already discussed a few multiplication shortcut techniques. Today we shall discuss another shortcut technique called "Antyayordasakepi". This means "When the sum of the digits in units place is 10". Now lets have a detailed look of this method.

This Vedic Math Shortcut method is applicable when,
  1. The sum of the digits in units place is 10.
  2. The digits in the higher places (on LHS) of both the numbers are same.
Now lets try to understand the above rules with a small example.

Example 1 : 43 x 47 = ?
  1. Here, the digits in the units place of both the given numbers are 3 and 7 respectively. Adding them, we get 3 + 7 = 10. So first condition satisfied.
  2. The digits in the 10's  place (on LHS) of both the numbers are 4 only. So the second condition is also satisfied.
So, our shortcut method is applicable for this problem. Now lets have a look at the solution of 43 x 47 = ?
  1. Initially : 3 x 7 = 21
  2. Ekadhika : 4 + 1 = 5
  3. Next : 4 x 5 = 20
  4. Result : 43 x 47 = 20 | 21 =  2021 ----> This is the answer
Confused ? Let's have a look at another example,

Example 2 : 74 x 76 = ?

  1. The digits in the units place of both the given numbers are 4 and 6 respectively. Adding them, we get 4+6 = 10
  2. The digits in the 10's place (on LHS) of both the numbers are 7 only.
  3. Initially : 4 x 6 = 24
  4. Ekadhika : 7 + 1 = 8
  5. Next : 7 x 8 = 56
  6. Result : 74 x 76 = 56 | 24  =  5624  ----> This is the answer
Let's see another Example,

Example 3 : 62 x 68 = ?

  1. The digits in the units place of both the given numbers are 2 and 8 respectively. Adding them, we get 2+8 = 10
  2. The digits in the 10's place (on LHS) of both the numbers are 6 only.
  3. Initially : 2 x 8 = 16
  4. Ekadhika : 6 + 1 = 7
  5. Next :  7 x 6 = 42
  6. Result : 62 x 68 = 42 | 16 = 4216  ----> This is the answer
That's all for now friends. In our next post we shall discuss more vedic maths shortcut techniques. Happy Reading :)
