International Affairs
  • The United States marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy today.
  • US wants Afghanistan to sign the bilateral security agreement (BSA) by the end of this year to ensure smooth post 2014 transition, a top presidential aide has said.

National Affairs
  • The Madras High Court Bench in Madurai has ordered issuance of notice to Union home secretary and the RBI among others on a PIL seeking posting of security guards, aged not more than 45, in all ATM kiosks in view of robberies, including the recent brutal attack on a woman in Bangalore.
  • Tehelka Editor Tarun Tejpal's alleged sexual harassment of a woman colleague snowballed into a major controversy with the Goa police considering summoning him while questions have been raised over the way the weekly magazine has handled the issue.
  • For the first time, Lok Adalats will be held tomorrow across the country (National LokAdalat ) in all courts including the Supreme Court and High Courts aiming to dispose of lakhs of cases in a day.
  • President Pranab Mukherjee to address special session of Arunachal Pradesh assembly on November 28 during a two-day visit to the state.
  • Karnataka's Minister of State for Information and Infrastructure Development Santosh Lad has resigned from his post following allegations over his role in the illegal mining scam.
  • Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday said connectivity with the ASEAN was a strategic priority for his government as it was the key to regional development, building capacities and enhancing trade and investment.

  • Belgium's Princess Astrid, accompanied by its "biggest ever" 300-member business delegation and senior ministers, will arrive to India Saturday on a week-long visit to deepen trade and investment with a country whose potential they consider "huge".

  • Indian-origin businessman Murli Kewalram Chanrai was presented the Outstanding Member of the South Asian Diaspora award by Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam.
  • Bollywood Actor Imran Khan has been awarded by animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India for stopping a trainer from hitting a canine on his film set.
  • Indian-origin British MP Priti Patel has been honoured here with the prestigious Asian Trader Editor's Award for her tireless campaigning to support small shops and convenience stores.

  • Norway's MagnusCarlsen becomes new World Chess Champion, by defeating Five-time title-holder India's ViswanathanAnand.
