RBI Cuts Repo Rate and CRR by 25 Basic Points

The Reserver Bank of India today (29th January 2013)  has reduced Repo Rate by a widely expected 25 basis points, taking comfort from cooling inflation as it made the first cut in nine months to support an economy headed for its slowest growth in a decade. So now the Repo Rate has become 7.75 Percent (earlier it was 8%).

And Unexpectedly the bank has also reduced the CRR (Cash Reserve Ratio), the share of deposits banks must keep with the central bank by 25 basic points. Now the CRR Became 4 percent (earlier it was 4.25%), which will infuse an additional 180 billion rupees into the banking system.

The RBI said there was increasing likelihood of inflation remaining rangebound around current levels heading into 2013/14 fiscal year starting April. "This provides space, albeit limited, for monetary policy to give greater emphasis to growth risks," it added in its quarterly monetary policy review.

    Also some changes are done :
    Bank rate : 8.75% (Earlier : 9%)
    Reverse Repo : 6.75% (Earlier : 7%)
    MSF : 8.75% (Earlier : 9%)

    If repo rate is reduced then automatically Reverse repoalso reduced by the same percentage....

    repo-7.75
    reverse repo-6.75

    a cheer for many as it will make home
    loans cheaper.

    mam please answer my query,
    i have cleared cwe clerk II online examination. i have applied from Maharashtra ,Mumbai. mam i can understand Marathi, i speak little bit. as i am basically from Chattisgarh. and as writing and reading is concerned its in Hindi only. mam m i eligible for interview, or it can create any problem. please suggest me mam, m very tensed. what will i do. will i tell that at the tym of interview.and will this can effect my interview?

    please help me mam

      It wont create you any problem Friend. YOu are eligible for Interview. Stop being tensed and prepare well for Interview. It wont effect that much in interviews.. Better to tell them in clear if they ask.. add that you can manage marathi...
