Top ranking states in Public Affairs Index 2020 : Highlights

The state on the southwestern Malabar Coast of India, Kerala has been named as the best-governed state in the country according to the Public Affairs Index 2020. Kerala was followed by Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in the large state category. Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Bihar ended at the bottom in the list.

Goa ranked first in the small state category followed by Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh. Chandigarh has been named as the best governed union territory followed by Puducherry and Lakshadweep.

Public Affairs Index (PAI) is an annual report which ranks the States of India from the lens of governance. This report is released by Delhi based non profit organization Public Affairs Centre headed by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K Kasturirangan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made 56 Foreign Visits Till Now - Highlights

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made 56 foreign visits since taking the office in May 2014, the government informed the Parliament today. After first visiting Bhutan in June 2014, Modi visited the US four times, and Nepal, Japan, Russia, Afghanistan and China two times each, Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh said. Here are the major highlights of Modi's foreign visits.

  • In September 2015, he visited New York for the UN General Assembly session during the course of which he again met then US President Barack Obama and then proceeded to San Jose, California, where he interacted with top Fortune 500 CEOs.
  • The Prime Minister made his third visit to the US in the spring of 2016 for the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington during which he highlighted India's role and commitment to the global partnership in nuclear security.
  • He again visited the US at the invitation of Obama in June 2016 during the course of which he addressed the US Congress.
  • Modi paid an official bilateral visit to Nepal in August 2014, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 17 years, and again visited the Himalayan nation in November 2014 to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) Summit.

Latest List of Indian Ministers with Portfolios 2016 : Modi Cabinet reshuffle (Pdf Download)

Prime Minister Narendramodi today (5th July 2016) reshuffled Council of Ministers for the second time since 2014. He expanded his Union Council of Ministers with 19 new Ministers from 10 States. Smriti Irani is no more the country's HRD Minister, she has been moved out of the Human Resource Development (HRD ministry) to Textile Ministry. Prakash Javadekar, who was promoted to cabinet rank this morning, will hold this portfolio now.  In other important changes made by PM Modi, Venkaiah Naidu will now be Minister for Information and Broadcasting, a portfolio held by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as an additional charge. Sadananda Gowda loses the Law Ministry to Ravi Shankar Prasad, who is also the Information Technology Minister. Here is the complete list of ministers and their portfolios. (as on 5th July 2016).
