New State Symbols for Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh government today approved new state symbols. There were no state symbols for the newly formed Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation to form Telangana on 2nd June 2014. So today, the state's Principal Secretary of Environment and Forests G Anantha Ramu has released an order declaring the state symbols.

Neem and Black Buck have been declared as the state tree and animal respectively. Rose-ringed parakeet will be the state bird while Jasmine is the state flower. "The government felt that it is necessary to have separate symbols for the state after the bifurcation. Accordingly, the symbols have been notified for Andhra Pradesh," the order added.

These new symbols will come into effect from 6th June 2018.
