Meet the new Chief Minister of Meghalaya - Conrad Sangma

The President of National Peoples Party (NPP) Conrad Sangma today sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Meghalaya. He has replaced the two time Chief Minister of the state (from 20th April 2010 to 4th March 2018) Mukul Sangma. With this, Conrad Sangma became 12th CM of the state. There will be no deputy CM for the state.

Sangma is currently a Member of Parliament from Tura. He assumed presidency of the National People's Party in the year 2016 after the death of his father and former Chief Minister Purno Sangma. 

The Congress, which has been in power in the state for the last 10 years was not able to stitch a coalition in time despite emerging as the single largest party.
