  • Ruling - a decision
  • Scathing - criticizing someone or something in a very strong way
  • Indictment - an official statement accusing someone of committing a serious crime, or the document with which this is done
  • Verdict -  an official judgment made in a court
  • Searing - very powerful and emotional or criticizing someone or something very strongly
  • Vested with - if someone is vested with power, the right, etc. to do something, they are officially able or allowed to do it
  • Crucial - something that is crucial is extremely important because it has a major effect on the result of something
  • Determine - to officially decide something
  • Incurr - to experience something unpleasant as a result of something that you have done
  • Disqualification - a situation in which someone is not allowed to take part in something because they have committed an offence or have done something that is not allowed by the rules
  • Embarrassing - making you feel nervous, ashamed, or stupid
  • Violate - to do something that is in opposition to a law, agreement, principle etc
  • Adjudicate - to make an official decision about a problem or disagreement
  • Oral - spoken but not written
  • Specious - seeming to be true but in fact wrong
  • Summon - to officially order someone to come to a place, especially a court of law
  • Recuse - to stop acting as a judge or other official in a court case because of possible conflict of interest
  • Vitiating - to make something less effective or legally acceptable
  • Quasi - used to show that something is almost, but not completely, the thing described
  • Scrupulous - very careful to be honest and to do what is morally correct
  • Duly - in the way that you expect or think is suitable
  • Empower - to give someone more control over their life or more power to do something
  • Adjudicate - to make an official decision about a problem or disagreement
  • Plunge into - to suddenly start doing something with energy and enthusiasm, but sometimes without thinking about it first
  • Violation - an action that is in opposition to a law, agreement, principle etc
  • Proceedings - the actions taken, usually in court, to settle a legal matter
  • Vitiate - to make something less effective or legally acceptable
  • Bias - an attitude that you have that makes you treat someone in a way that is unfair or different from the way you treat other people
  • Aarbitrariness - not based on any particular plan, or not done for any particular reason
  • Extraneous - not relating to the subject or situation that you are dealing with
  • Pre-eminent - better or more important than anyone or anything else in a particular activity
  • Ought to - used for saying what is the right or sensible thing to do, or the right way to behave
  • Abundant - existing or available in large quantities
  • Caution - careful thought and lack of hurry in order to try to avoid risks or danger
  • Impartiality - equal treatment of all rivals or disputants; fairness
  • Redeem -  to improve something that is not very good by including something that is good
  • Adjudication - to make an official decision about a problem or disagreement
  • Latitude - freedom to use your own methods and judgment in doing something
  • Caution - to tell someone about a danger or problem that they need to know about or avoid
  • Unseating - to remove someone from a position of power, for example by voting
  • Incurr - to experience something unpleasant as a result of something that you have done

  • Scuff - to make a rough mark on a smooth surface
  • Buff - a person who knows a lot about and is very interested in a particular subject
  • Ball-tampering - unlawful alteration of the surface of a ball on the field, to affect its motion when bowled
  • Controversy - a disagreement, especially about a public policy or a moral issue that a lot of people have strong feelings about
  • Murky - involving activities that are not clearly known and that people think are dishonest or morally wrong
  • Innocuous - not likely to offend or upset anyone
  • Interventionist - often becoming involved
  • Chew - to bite something continuously but not swallow it
  • Lozenge - medicine shaped like a sweet that you suck if you have a cough or sore throat
  • Abrasive - having a rough surface that can be used to rub and clean other surfaces
  • Turf - short grass and the earth that is under it
  • Plung into - to quickly push something a long way into something else
  • Enhance - to improve something, or to make it more attractive or more valuable
  • Infamy - a reputation for something bad
  • Subsequent - happening or coming after something else
  • Accomplice - someone who helps another person to do something illegal or wrong
  • Powerhouse - something such as a country or organization that has a lot of power or influence
  • Fracas - a noisy fight or argument
  • Perils - danger or problems connected with a particular activity
  • Grudging - done in an unwilling way
  • Complicity - the fact that someone is involved in or knows about something bad that happens
  • Forthcoming - happening or coming soon
  • Overwhelming - much larger, stronger, more important etc than anything else in a situation
  • Slap on the wrist - a punishment that is less severe than is expected or usual
  • Pre-meditated - a premeditated crime, bad action, unpleasant remark etc has been deliberately planned
  • Orchestrate - to plan and organize a complicated event or course of action, especially without being noticed, so that it achieves the result you want
  • Despicable - extremely unpleasant
  • Trash-talk - negative or insulting things that you say to or about someone, especially an opponent
  • Nefarious - evil, or dishonest
