Hai Friends I'm Kani. Here I'm sharing English Vocabulary from Editorial section of The Hindu News Paper dated 1st March 2018. Happy reading :)

  • Oblige - to force someone to do something because it is the law, a rule, or a duty
  • Flesh out - to make (something) more complete by adding details
  • Remand - to send someone accused of committing a crime away from court until their trial begins
  • Accuse - to say that someone has done something wrong or committed a crime
  • Conspiracy - a secret plan by a group of people to do something bad or illegal, especially in politics
  • Foreign direct investment - money that is invested in companies, property, or other assets by people or organizations from other countries
  • Violation - an action that is in opposition to a law, agreement, principle etc
  • Allegedly - if someone allegedly does something, another person says that they have done it, even though this has not been proved
  • Downstream - indirect foreign investment by one Indian company into another Indian company by way of subscription or acquisition of shares
  • Penal - relating to the punishment of criminals
  • Roped in - to persuade someone to do something that they do not really want to do
  • Public servant - someone who works for the government, especially someone who has been elected
  • By virtue of something - because of, or as a result of
  • Probe - an attempt to find out the truth about an issue, problem, or accident, made by an official group or by a newspaper, television programme etc
  • Evidence - facts or physical signs that help to prove something
  • Apprehension - a feeling of worry or fear that something bad might happen
  • Evade - to avoid being caught, especially after you have done something illegal
  • Furnish - to provide someone with something that they need, especially information
  • Credibility - qualities that someone has that make people believe or trust them
  • Vendetta - a situation in which someone has angry and negative feelings towards someone else and keeps trying to harm them or to cause problems for them
  • Motive - the reason that you do something
  • Redux - brought back; revived
  • Regime - a system of rules that control something
  • Assessing - to carefully consider a situation, person, or problem in order to make a judgment
  • Roll out - to introduce a new product or service
  • Inter-State - existing or taking place between states
  • Abandon -  to stop something that you are doing or planning to do
  • Defer - to arrange for something to happen at a later time than you had planned
  • Glitch - a small and sudden problem
  • Pose - to present a difficult or dangerous situation
  • Compliance - the practice of obeying a law, rule, or request
  • Fiscal - relating to money and financial matters, especially taxes
  • Compulsion - a legal or other obligation to do something
  • Inflow - an amount of something such as money or goods that comes into a place
  • Dipped - became less
  • Reckon - to calculate something
  • Adequate - good enough or large enough for a particular purpose
  • Compensate - to change or remove the bad result of something
  • Rationalisation - to try to find reasons to explain your behaviour, decisions, etc
  • Disparity - a difference between things
  • Factor in - to include a particular amount or factor when you calculate something
  • Staggered - very surprised and shocked
  • Compliance -  the practice of obeying a law, rule, or request
  • Ensure - to make certain that something happens or is done
  • Backbone - the most important part of something, providing support for everything else
