National Current Affairs
- The Union Cabinet today approved a plan to set up India's first National Rail and Transport University in Gujarat's Vadodara.
- This is aimed at providing skilled human resources and build the capability of the Indian Railways.
- The Patiala House Court today acquitted all accused in the 2G scam case, including former Telecom Minister A Raja and DMK leader Kanimozhi.
- Note : The scam, which pertains to the allotment of licences to telecom operators at throwaway prices in 2007-08, caused the government a ₹1.76 lakh-crore loss.
Banking, Business & Economic Affairs
- Today is 105th foundation day of India's first SWADESHI BANK 'Central Bank of India".
- Central Bank of India was completely owned and founded by Indians with out any Britishers share.
- It was established on 21 December 1911 by Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala with Sir Pherozeshah Mehta as Chairman.
- Sorabji Pochkhanawala is the only banker in who's honour postage stamp was released by the President of India.
- The United Kingdom has topped Forbes' rankings of best countries in the world for business in 2018 for the first time.
- Important Points to Note :
- Last year UK stood at 5th position.
- The UK is followed by New Zealand and the Netherlands.
- India was ranked 62nd on the list.
- The Manipur government will build its Behiang town as a second trade corridor to southeast Asian countries.
- With a brand value of $144 million (₹921 crore), India captain Virat Kohli has dethroned actor Shah Rukh Khan to become the Most valuable celebrity brand in India.
New Appointments
- The former CEO of online travel site Orbitz, Barney Harford has been appointed as the 1st ever Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the ride-hailing startup Uber.
Science & Technology
- The UK government has announced that it is going to pass a legislation to make high-speed broadband a legal right in early 2018.
- This move is part of the Digital Economy Act, passed earlier this year.
Awards & Honors
- The Sahitya Akademi has announced it's annual Sahitya Akademi Awards for the year 2017 in 24 languages today.
- 7 books of novels, 5 books of poetry, 5 books of short stories, 5 books of literary criticism and one play and essays ahve won the honor this year.

Sports Current Affairs
- Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who took four wickets against Sri Lanka, has become the highest T20I wicket-taker in 2017.
- Chahal took 19 T20I wickets this year.
- Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the cricketer with most fielding dismissals in T20Is.
- With his 4 dismissals in the T20I against Sri Lanka, Dhoni took his overall tally to 74 dismissals, two more than South African cricketer AB de Villiers.
