Hello everyone, in our Lesson 59, we learnt about the prefix PseudoPseudo represents the meanings false; not genuineToday we shall see the prefix quadr, quadri. Happy Reading :)

Day 60 : Quadri, Quadr

  • Quadri, Quadr - four; having four
Let's try to understand this with some examples
  • quadrant (noun) = a quarter of a circle; an instrument for measuring angles.
    • quadr (quadri) - Prefix = four
    • ant - Suffix = thing that
  • quadrilateral (noun) = a flat shape with four straight sides
    • quadri - Prefix = four
    • later - Suffix = side
    • al - Suffix = the state of
    Let's have a look at some more words with prefixes, for better understanding.
    • quadruped = any creature with four feet
    • quadrangle = an open square area that has buildings all around it
    • quadraphonic = coming from four different speakers at the same time
    • quadruplet = any of four children who are born to the same mother at the same time
    • quadripleagia = paralysis caused by illness or injury that results in the partial or total loss of use of all four limbs and torso
    • quadragenary = a person who is forty to forty-nine years old

      Try to guess the meanings of the following elements.
