Let's try to understand this with some examples
- quadrant (noun) = a quarter of a circle; an instrument for measuring angles.
- quadr (quadri) - Prefix = four
- ant - Suffix = thing that
- quadrilateral (noun) = a flat shape with four straight sides
Let's have a look at some more words with prefixes, for better understanding.
- quadruped = any creature with four feet
- quadrangle = an open square area that has buildings all around it
- quadraphonic = coming from four different speakers at the same time
- quadruplet = any of four children who are born to the same mother at the same time
- quadripleagia = paralysis caused by illness or injury that results in the partial or total loss of use of all four limbs and torso
- quadragenary = a person who is forty to forty-nine years old
