- Today (29th November) is International day of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
- On this day, in 1947, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine (resolution 181 (II))
- India hosted the golden jubilee (50th anniversary) celebrations of United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in New Delhi.
- The conference was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee then it is followed by five sessions
- Session 1 : Redefining Arbitrability: To Expand or Not To Expand
- Session 2 : 50 Years of UNCITRAL: Experience from the Asia-Pacific Region
- Session 3 : Tackling the Next Level: Emerging Legal Standards for Electronic Commerce across Borders

- Note : UNCITRAL was established by the United Nations General Assembly by its Resolution 2205 (XXI) "to promote the progressive harmonization and unification of international trade law".

- Akodara village in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat has became India’s first digital village.
- The village with a total population of 1,191 people and 250 households uses a various cashless system for payments of goods and services.
- All transactions in the village are carried out through digital modes like SMS, net-banking or debit cards.
- Important Note : This village was adopted by ICICI Bank under its Digital Village Project in 2015 and made cashless by adopting digital technology.
- The Lok Sabha today passed the Taxation Laws (second amendment) Bill, 2016.
- The bill provides for black money declarants to mandatorily deposit 25% of the amount disclosed in an anti-poverty scheme.
- Delhi government today launched a drug abuse prevention campaign to raise awareness among students about consequences of drug usage.
- The campaign will be organised in government schools of Delhi and will host activities like poster making and movie screenings.
- It will also involve sessions which would impart life skills to help youth cope with adolescent peer pressure.
Business & Economic Affairs
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today announced that bank customers would be able to withdraw deposits made in current legal tender notes beyond current limits.
- This means that if valid notes worth ₹4,000 are deposited, the withdrawal limit would rise by ₹4,000 over and above the weekly withdrawal limit of ₹24,000.
- Note : The move aims to increase currency circulation.

- General Qamar Javed Bajwa today took over as Pakistan's New Army Chief.
- He has replaced Gen Raheel Sharif.

- Iranian film “Daughter” directed by Reza Mirkarimi, has won the coveted Golden Peacock award at the 47th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). It has been directed by Reza Mirkarimi.

- Best Actor Male Award : Farhad Aslani (Iran) for Daughter.
- Best Actor Female Award : Elina Vaska (Latvia) for Mellow Mud.
- Best Director Award : Jointly-shared by Soner Caner and Baris Kaya for Turkish film “Rauf”.
- Special jury award : The Throne (South Korea) [Directed by Lee Joon-Ik].
- ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal Prize : Turkish director Mustafa Kara for his film “Cold of Kalandar”
- Special Jury mention award : Tiffany Hsuig for the Korean movie “The Apology”.
- Centenary Award for the Best Debut Feature of the director : Pepa San Martin for the film “Ra Ra”.

- PM Narendra Modi is leading the TIME's 2016 'Person of the Year' online poll with 21% voting in his favour.
- He is being trailed by Wikileaks founder Julian Assange with 10% of votes, Russian President Vladimir Putin with 6% and US President-elect Donald Trump with 6% of votes.
- The voting on the poll will end on December 4.
- US-based online payments startup Stripe's 26-year-old Co-founder, John Collison has become the world's youngest self-made billionaire with a net worth of $1.1 billion.
- Note : Until now, Snapchat's CEO Evan Spiegel, two months older to Collison, was the world's youngest self-made billionaire.

- The Union Government has decided to constitute a Sub-committee of Chief Ministers of five states in the wake of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes.
- This committee will suggest measures to normalise the situation.
- The committee will be headed by : N Chandrababu Naidu (Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh)
Sports Current Affairs
- PV Sindhu has qualified for the year-end BWF Super Series Finals tournament for the first time in her career.
- The tournament, which is being held in Dubai this year from December 14-18, will see the year's top eight players competing for the $1 million prize money.
- Pankaj Advani has won Bronze medal at IBSF World Snooker Championship in Doha
