Hello everyone, in our Lesson 42, we learnt about the prefix MicroMicro represents the meanings small; minuteToday we shall see the prefixes mini, minim. Happy Reading :)

Day 43 : Mini, Minim

  • mini, minim - small; least; short
Let's try to understand this with some examples
  • miniature (noun) = an image on a small scale
    • mini - Prefix = small
    • ate - Suffix = cause to be
    • ure - Suffix = the action of 
  • minimize (verb) = to reduce something, especially something bad, to the lowest possible level. 
    • minim - Prefix - least
    • ize - Suffix = to make
Let's have a look at some more words with mini, minim prefixes, for better understanding.
  • miniskirt = a very short skirt
  • minimal = as small as possible
  • minimum = the smallest that is possible or allowed
  • minimart = a small shop / store that sells food, newspapers, etc 
  • minibus = a small bus for about ten to fifteen people
  • miniaturist = an artist who paints very small pictures
  • minimization = the act of reducing something to the least possible amount or degree or position

Try to guess the meanings of the following elements.

  4. -gravi
