  • Decisive - having the ability to make decisions quickly and effectively
  • Fuelled - encouraged
  • Spurt - move with a sudden speed
  • Last-ditch effort - an ​effort or ​attempt that is made at the end of a ​series of ​failures to ​solve a ​problem, and is not ​expected to ​succeed
  • Appetite - a strong desire or liking for something.
  • Emerging - growing
  • Amid - surrounded by
  • Heed - pay attention to
  • Flourishing - developing rapidly and successfully
  • Informants - a person who gives information
  • Insurgents - a person fighting against government
  • Muddy the waters - to make a situation more confused
  • Attrition - decrease in numbers, size, or strength
  • Containment - he action of keeping something harmful under control
  • Holistic - focusing on whole rather than analysing into parts
  • Dispute - argument
  • Assuage - satisfy
  • Grievance - complaint
  • Intertwined - to become very closely involved with each other
  • Infiltrate  - to secretly enter something (a group or an organization) in order to get information or do harm

  • Reaped - to obtain a return or reward

  • Backlash - a strong negative reaction by a large number of people
  • Rejuvenate - make something look or feel better
  • Sagging - sinking (decreasing to lower level)
