- Ladakh Marathon held today in Leh.
- This is the Fourth edition of the Ladakh Marathon, an annual event after it was started in 2012 following the devastating flash floods that claimed 200 human lives and rendered hundreds homeless in Leh district in August 2010.
- The initiative was started to convey to the world that Ladakh is back and running.
- It is aimed at encouraging the youth of Ladakh to live a healthy lifestyle by taking up running (in hostile weather conditions) and by becoming more aware of the need to protect the environmentally fragile region.
- 3,900 people participated in this event.
- Important Note : This is the only marathon in the world which takes place at 11,500 ft above sea level.
- Rajasthan has become the first state in the country to submit State Annual Action Plan under AMRUT targeting universal coverage in respect of water supply connections and sewerage connections to all urban households in the state.

- The first ever bilateral maritime exercise between Australia and India — AUSINDEX-15 — commenced in Vizag (Andhra Pradesh).
- It was inaugurated jointly by Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Head Navy Capability Rear Admiral Jonathan Mead and Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet Rear Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh onboard INS Shivilak.
- Australian fleet tanker HMAS Sirius, Anzac-class frigate HMAS Arunta and Collins-class submarine HMAS Sheean are participating in the exercise, where the Indian Navy is being represented by stealth frigate INS Shivalik, guided missile destroyer INS Ranvijay and fleet tanker INS Shakti.

- Wrestler Narsingh Pancham Yadav bags bronze medal in the 74kg Freestyle category at the World Wrestling Championship.
- With his third-place finish, Narsingh became the lone Indian to win a medal at the prestigious tournament as well as book a berth for the 2016 Rio Games.
- Note : This is the first time that an Indian wrestler has earned an Olympic berth with a medal at the World Championship.

- Italian professional tennis player Flavia Pennetta won US Open Womens Singles Title by beating fellow Italian Roberta Vinci.
- This is her first Grand Slam title.
- She becomes the first Italian US Open Champion
- After winning this title, she announced her retirement.
- Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer to clash in the Men's Final tonight.
- Pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis to play for Women's Doubles trophy.
- Note : Veteran Indian tennis star Leander Paes and his Swiss partner Martina Hingis lifted Mixed Double's trophy yesterday.
