Hello friends, My name is Sarang Pethe from Mumbai and I am one of the silent followers of Gr8ambitionz. The banking awareness and general awareness material is very useful and interview Experience shared by others is also quite useful. Here I am sharing my experience for the first time. Hope this will be useful to all the readers.

Interview Date : 24 February 2015

Venue : SBI LHO, BKC, Mumbai

Category : PWD

Reporting time was 8 am. I reached there by 7.30 am. We were made to sit in cafeteria and were offered breakfast and tea. There were total 3 panel (and was informed later for next days there will be 3 panel too). I was in panel 1. We were taken on first floor and made to seat in one of the conference room. Then started the document verification part. Character certificate are mandatory but those who didn't had it were allowed to give underwriting. My number was 9th in the panel. Document verification of all finished by around 10 am.

We were then taken to 5th floor where the group discussion was arranged. The interview panel member came around 10.30 am and the group discussion started.

 

Topic for GD: Does exposure to western culture harm our culture? 

Everyone was allowed to speak in the first round for 2 minutes. Anyone was allowed to start once one finishes. In second round those who had to add some points were allowed to speak for 1 minute each.

Overall the group discussion was good and everyone did well.

Around 11 am the interview started. All the panel member were retired personnel from SBI. My turn came around 12.15 pm. Till then I was talking to others from our panel and we were sharing our experiences which relaxed us all. Now coming to interview.... Interview panel were very friendly and it was more of a discussion... 

Questions asked were

1. Related to my previous work experience

2. About my hobbies

3. I had mentioned that I had passed new India AO exam... So they asked that between bank and insurance which one will you select.

4. You mentioned about risk, what it is?  can you give some examples...

5. What comes under general insurance?

6. How your HR degree will help in Bank?

7. Is SBI a nationalised Bank?

8. Who is the owner of SBI?

9. Prior to government of India who was owner of SBI?

10. What is a commercial bank?

11. Then few question on my birth place

12. Banks also sell insurance products, what is this called?

13. Name few banks who sell insurance through bancassurance model?

That's it. Overall the interview went very well. Hoping for the best now & awaiting to become part of SBI group!!!
