International Affairs
- Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam has begun a four-day state visit to India, as the two countries mark 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
- This is President Tan's first state visit to India.
- During his visit he will inaugurate the opening of the Peranakan Exhibition themed "The Peranakan World: Cross-Cultural Art from Singapore and the Malacca Straits", which is the main commemorative event celebrating the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations, at the National Museum in New Delhi.
- He will also launch the Singapore-India Commemorative Book published by the Institute of South Asian Studies, and attend the "Flavours of Singapore" hosted for the Singaporean community in New Delhi.
National Affairs
- Today is Death anniversary of Murlidhar Devidas Amte, popularly known as Baba Amte, an Indian social worker and social activist, who known particularly for his work for the rehabilitation and empowerment of poor people suffering from leprosy.
- JD(U) expels CM Jitan Ram Manjhi from party accusing him of "indiscipline" and demanded that Governor Kesri Nath Tripathi ask him to take a trial of strength in the Assembly within 48 hours.
- Nitish Kumar meets Governor to stake claim to form government.
Awards & Honors
- Distinguished journalist Vinod Mehta has been conferred Uttar Pradesh's highest civilian award Yash Bharti by the State government.
- Bengaluru-based musician Ricky Kej's collaborative album 'Winds of Samsara' wins the best new age album award at the 57th Grammy Awards. Check complete list of Winners from here.

Science & Technology
- China today launched its first cruise liner to sail via its ambitious transcontinental initiative Maritime Silk Road (MSR) on its maiden voyage during which it will visit three South-East Asian nations including Malaysia and Vietnam.
Business & Economy
- Indian economy is estimated to grow at 7.4% in 2014-15 against 6.9% in previous year.
- The estimate is based on new formula. According to estimates released by Central Statistics Office today, economy grew at 7.5 per cent during the October-December 2014 quarter.
- The GDP growth for first quarter of 2014-15 has been revised to 6.5 per cent as opposed to 5.7 per cent estimated earlier. GDP growth for the second quarter has been revised to 8.2 per cent from 5.3 per cent estimated earlier.
New Appointments
- German sportswear major Adidas Group has appointed Damyant Singh as its Brand Director in India.
- He succeeds Tushar Goculdas, who was recently appointed as the Brand Director-Adidas Emerging Markets.
