Data Accepting Systm in Computers

Friends, in our last post we learned about the working process of computer. Today we shall learn about the Data Accepting System in Computer. Lets start our discussion with a question. "Are you thinking that whatever data we feed into the computer is being accepted in the same way ?". Well the answer is "No". It won't take the information to the computer in the same way as we give. You will be surprised to know that computers are built in a different way.

The computer converts the data given by us into its own language. This language is called machine language. It is the language which can only be understood by the computer.

We, however, need not give the data to the computer in the machine language (ofcourse, we can't do it too :P). If you just give the data in the form of alphabets, numbers etc. the computer will convert it into its own language., e.g. binary form.

Lt us see how the computer will convert the information into machine or binary language. The computer will convert the information into "bits". The bits are binary numbers. They are just two numbers i.e., 0 and 1. The total of 8 bits is called a Byte. Whenever we measure memory of computer, we measure it in bytes.

We can see the bits and bytes in the form of a table

Here,
  • 1 Bit = One Character or One Number
  • 1 Byte = 8 Bits
  • 1 Kilo Byte (KB) = 1024 Bytes
  • 1 Mega Byte (MB) = 1024 KB = 1,048,578 Characters = 500 Pages
  • 1 Giga Byte (GB) = 1024 MB = 1,073,741,824 Characters = 500,000,000 Pages
Now a days we are using the computers having a storage capacity of 1000 Giga Bytes (we call it as Tera Byte or TB).

Let us see how the computer takes data into it. We have already discussed about the Decimal Number System and the Binary Number system at school level. They can be represented by side in the following simple table.

The Decimal system will convert the number into Binary System. Suppose you feed 9 in the computer, the computer will then take it as 1001. (See the number in Binary system for decimal number 9).

    of candidates who have qualified in interview or just the scorecard of the
