Dear friends, I feel elated to share my SBI PO overall experience with you all. I owe my success to my Parents, Gurmeet Sethi (mentor) and Gr8ambitionz. It gives me pleasure to share that I have been selected as PO in State bank of India. I want to share my written preparation strategy as well as my GD/PI preparation.

Name :  Rohit Kashyap

Educational Background : B.E. in electronics and Communication Engineering

About Me:
I have an engineering background having done the same in electronics field. Both my parents are in the banking sector and hence my inclination towards the same. Yet I was unsure as to what shall I pursue further and establish as my career. This journey helped me find my career.

My Study Plan:
For the written exam having no prior experience in the competitive exams I followed Gr8ambitionz site. Regular practice and Mock tests helped me crack the exam.

First Phase :

After lot of permutations I found my winning combination as follows:

PREFERENCE
SUBJECT
TIME(min)
ATTEMPTS
ACCURACY(%)
First
English
25
35-40
85-90
Second
General Awareness
20
20-30
75-80
Third
Data Interpretation
40-45
30-35
85-95
Fourth
Reasoning
30-35
27-32
75-85

TOTAL ATTEMPTED ON D-DAY- 109
Reading novels and newspapers helped me in the Descriptive test as the topics were more or less current. Also regular reading on gr8ambitionz website helped me generate ideas which were striking for example title for precise writing.

Second Phase :

After clearing the first phase I had to face my biggest fear –GD/PI. Getting referral from a friend I visited this website www.meetsethi.com and shared my fears openly with Sir. After a round of online counseling I started attending regular sessions in which a new insight was given to me regarding this process. Questions and fears such as “I am an Electronics and Communication engineer with no prior banking experience and knowledge” were put to ease. Brilliant inputs given by Sir helped me answer questions such as ‘Why banking after Engineering’ with confidence.  Simplified Group Discussion techniques were also taught in the grueling 7 day session that included tips to generate thoughts and ideas regarding any topic, express the idea with clarity, group etiquettes and dynamics that shall drive home one’s point.

SCORECARD

P.S: GD/PI is actually really important as it helped me make the cut.

To conclude friends I’d like to add that the journey was long, demanding yet one with lots of learning included in it. I would again like to thank GOD, my Parents, my Mentor for helping me in my journey and making it a successful one and also wish all of you the best of luck in your respective journey.
