International Affairs
  • India and China have agreed to step up engagements between their militaries by setting up hotlines between the Army headquarters
    • The two sides have also agreed to establish new border meeting posts to address incidents of incursions like the one in Ladakh area that occurred in September 2014.
  • In a recently released report, the UK's branch of the UN children's agency UNICEF says, a child is killed by violence every five minutes in the world, calling for new targets to end all forms of abuse by 2030.
  • For the second consecutive year, the Indonesia has decided to grant a one day Diwali holiday tomorrow to all Indian nationals and Indonesians of Indian descent so they can celebrate the Hindu festival of lights.

  • Today (21st October 2014) is  55th Police Commemoration day.
    • On 21 October 1959, SI Karam Singh and 20 soldiers were attacked by the Chinese Army at Hot Springs in Ladakh resulting in 10 casualties. The survivors were imprisoned. Since then, we observe Police Commemoration day.
  • Today (21st October 2014) is Azad Hind Day
    • On this day in 1943 Subhas Chandra Bose had formed Azad Hind Fauj and declared interim government of India which was recognized by several nations.
    • Azad Hind Fauj had made an important contribution against Britain in the second World War.
  • Manohar Lal Khattar, who is stated to be close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was today unanimously elected Leader of the BJP Legislature Party, paving the way for his becoming the first Chief Minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana.
  • Government formation process in Maharashtra to take place after Diwali.
  • President Pranab Mukherjee signs ordinance on e-auction of coal blocks.
  • Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the revised Constitution Amendment Bill to roll out GST would be introduced in the forthcoming Winter Session of Parliament.
  • Arun Jaitley clarifies that the government never said it will not disclose names of black money account holders; Names will be revealed as charges are filed against them in court.
  • Election Commission proposes to make paid news an electoral offence to provide a level playing field for political parties.
  • Government has increased the fellowship amount of research scholars up to 50 per cent.
  • Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
    • Taking the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan forward, lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung has directed the chief secretary to set up a control room in Delhi secretariat where people can send in their complaints and even submit photographs through e-mails and the WhatsApp message service.
    • A helpline number will be launched soon.

    But answer is n=24
    this ques was asked in ssc reexam-14.

    n = 24
    i dont no till nw that ext angle =360/n

  11. this year paper was lot tougher than the 2012.so the cut off according to 2012 is for gen-90,obc-80,sc-70,st-62.this cutoff may dedcrease but dont incresae
