Selection Process :
The selection process is based on two stages. 1st stage is objective test. If you qualify in this test, there will be skill test.
Objective Test Details :
There will be three parts in objective test. Those are, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness , English Language and Comprehension. Below are the section wise questions and marks details.

Important points to Note :
- The question paper will be in English and Hindi languages (except English and comprehension section)
- Negative marking is there (0.25 mark for every wrong answer)
Now let's have a look at the detailed syllabus of SSC Stenographers Exam 2014
General Intelligence and Reasoning :
This section consists of verbal and non verbal reasoning questions. The difficulty level will be little lower than bank clerical reasoning section. You should prepare basics of reasoning including directions, analogies, ranking, coding and decoding, blood relations, Venn diagrams etc. As we have mentioned earlier, the difficulty level will be moderate, you can easily solve this section with logical thinking.English :
If you got selected as a stenographer in SSC, all your duties will be dependent on English language. So good knowledge in English is must for this job. That's the reason why they gave maximum weightage for this section. This is the scoring section too. In simple words, this section will be the fate changer. So you have to focus more on this section. You can except questions from basic grammar, passages, common errors, cloze tests, antonyms and synonyms. You should work with your vocabulary (learn at least 5 new English words per day), read English news paper daily. This reading habit will help you getting good marks in general awareness section too.General Awareness :
The questions will be based on both national and international current affairs. So you should prepare current affairs of last 6 months including social, economical and political issues. At the same time you can expect questions from the standard GK too. So you have to prepare History, General Science, Economy, Geography, Polity, Inventions etc. With basic knowledge, all aspirants can score minimum 15 marks in this section. So you should get at least 25 to 30 marks in this section.Skill Test :
In skill test they will check your typing skills. At first they will dictate you a topic for 10 minutes (either English or Hindi based on your preference). Some times they will give you a printed article. Based on your category you have to type that.- Grade C aspirants should type that in 100 words per minute and Grade D aspirants should type that in 80 words per minute on Computer.

- 50 minutes for Hindi
- Grade D aspirants should complete that in
- 50 minutes for English
- 65 minutes for Hindi
